Interesting. It’s beside the gas tank. Just by the shock tower. It’s on top of the frame rail.

Have you checked the harness inside the tailgate for damage? I have had to replace that harness and it’s not too pricey.

I don’t have a harness, it’s a cheap backup cam that I wired myself from the head unit to the bumper. It was working today fine, I noticed when I got home and went into reverse that it wasn’t working anymore so I parked and saw the ground wire had broken from the bolt it was under. I tried two it three different bolts in different locations but it didn’t work. I’m sure it’s the ground wire that screwing it up, but I’m not sure why it won’t ground

I just emailed them to see if they offer it for 2nd gen. Only thing I don't like is the hinge pin. It's not supported on the top with it's own plate. With time, all the bouncing will put a lot of stress on that bearing/pin.

I thought I'd be kinda fine but after loading them into the back....with 1 passenger, hell, even by myself, I can barely get over a turn + curb without rub. Full set of steel plates + sliders def heavier than I thought.

To be honest I've always felt like I've had pretty damn soft and lobby suspension and my trucks only 3 months old. Is this an accurate impression of stock?

I can't wait for something stiffer and with more control. I'll let you boys con me into something new...taking suggestions now!

That's great to hear dude. I don't have a personal garage (underground parking) and I really want to do the suspension myself, but it might just make sense to do it in shop.

    What size tire?
    265 75 16 or 265 70 17 should fit fine.
Even if you do rub it's just plastic. Can be fixed with heat gun.

I had all mine on as I did that before anything no issues

Good to know that they are at least reputable :)

That would be my biggest concern chinese offerings go one of two ways. Same as OE or pot metal pieces of crap. Just no way of knowing unless someone else has already risked it. The offset is concerning if I am reading their page correctly. Looks like it would narrow my stance (anyone more versed in wheel offsets can confirm that?)

Nearly chocked on my coffee reading the back and forth on this conversation!!

Other fabricators have opted not to have top plates on their hinge pins (for the life of me I can't remember the name, but it was one of the better ones). For the driving and occasional off-roading I do, not sure it is a significant issue for me. However, it certainly will receive more research as I'm still two years away from that purchase.

My original plan was to do the install myself as well. Just with the variables and the number of tales where people screw up major components for forgetting something, figured it was best to just go to Ski and let his expertise handle the planning and install (He's doing up a quote for me as this week for my suspension and lift). I'll get a great suspension and the peace of mind that if anything goes wrong that he stands by his work and will look after me.

It comes out to $30 all in. I am collecting $5 and then give you all the details to register.

Next year it will be even cheaper.

On the Jerry can side I don't think it will be an issue, but on the tire side, there's a lot of weight transfer back and forth in stop and go. It's the bouncing around when wheeling that concers me. I would have to see the bearing and pin and how it sits in there.

You may want to give him a call. Great to deal with. Good prices. He has worked on many different members trucks. Only negative thing I have ever heard has to do with time (whether it be getting back to you or the length of time needed to work on something). This is because he has a small staff (keeps everything priced well) and is very thorough with installs (they don’t rush). I know a few of us can vouch. I have had my gears and lockers installed, my spindle gussets done, the whole front end rebuilt there. Lots of stuff.

Like you say some times space, your own time and other factors keep you from wrenching on your own truck. He is someone you can trust.

All I can think of is the lt truck that is bombing through the dessert and the tire carrier is bouncing like crazy. Those things need to be mounted solid. There is another member from another forum whose tire gate broke off on the Labrador highway. 35” spare tire and the gate gone in the ditch. Weld broke off the hinge.

    Ouch!

wonder if there are youtube videos of the install like you see of the CBI mounts getting installed.

this was the most closeup picture I could find of it so far

Their forerunner model is essentially the same system. Would that latching system help alleviate some of the stress on the post?

It’s usually a spindle style mount. I am more of a fan of the double sheer style from 4xcomp. Uses a grade 8 bolt and some bronze bushings. It’s more repairable than the welded spindle.

That one is a similiar spindle style as well.

I prefer this style in terms of serviceability.

Once you weld on the initial mount the bushings and bolt are serviceable. Where the spindle style. If it wears out you need to go to custom bearings are completely cut off the spindle and re weld it.
