Word! Yeah I've thought about buying it back for the scrap value but, like you, I don't have time to deal with all that. All I really want is to get back into a good tacoma, and not be out any money. I don't think that's too much to ask

I priced similar S10's with similar mileage. I came up with $3000 to $3500. The insurance Co. offered $3245 to settle. I settled, added $1000 and bought a one owner, 96, 4x4, 3.4l, standard transmission Tacoma with 250k miles. It needs some minor body rust repair and has had the frame repaired. I picked up a complete 95 parts truck with a really nice frame to swap. By doing the work myself, I will have about $3000 out of pocket when I get done with it. Not too bad for a nice 4x4 Taco.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
That's a shitty deal man, I resent parking on streets at all costs for this reason. Best of luck to you, if it can't be saved, hopefully they payout for another that compares to your old one or exceeds it's current condition.

I had the same thing happen here too back in 2001. E-350 Stanley steamer van ran into the back of my truck while it was parked pushing it half a block. My bed looked a lot worse than yours and was pushed into the back of the drivers side cab.

I thought for sure it was totalled. Frame was totally straight though. I got the laser alignment to prove. Plus the truck doesn't track. I was super suprised to hear how tough the frame was.

Entire bed was replaced which at first my insurance wanted to use a red Tacoma bed. I said no way contacted the dealer and the price for the new bed in a crate in primer was a $300 difference. I paid that out of my pocket. I did get the red tailgate and the gas door from the used red bed which I could handle.

It took about a month including the back and forth with the bed before I got it back. Still own and love my truck.

Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

So I never updated this thread and I feel like I should. I stumbled across my own thread here accidentally while googling for info about my current truck situation (another rear end collision!!!
Anyhow, if I were someone else, I'd want to know what ended up happening with this truck.
The green truck ended up being totalled, as many including myself suspected.
I was given $7400 if I remember correctly. Ended up getting this truck...for$8000

I bought the truck about three years ago I think. The mileage was around 180,000. I paid a little more than I wanted to but I really liked the truck! It was all factory. Just a really solid truck .so I went after it.
Probably wouldn't pay quite that today. Truck now has around 240,000 miles!
It looks like the truck can be fixed this time, but I have had the estimate done for the repairs and all that, so we'll see!

I don't think it is as bad either.
Thank you BTW, picture I took was just after I put new tires on it. Never looked as clean since lol.

    Oh man...that sucks!

I had the same thing happen. I had a 1 year old 2003 Honda Civic with 2300 miles (I walked to work) and it got plowed while parked. 2 months and $6,000 of damage later I got my car back.
While it was being repaired I borrowed my girlfriend's car one day to go to the store. I came out and it had been hit while I was in the store.
Two days after I got my civic back it got hit again!
Three years later it got hit a third time!
    Each time the driver left!

I've been hit a total of 7 times where no one left a note or anything.

That is outrageous! I would just give up lol. Nah I'm kidding, that's terrible. I am just tired of the trucks that I searched all over the southeast to find and purchase, being hit by irresponsible drivers. And I'm worried that the insurance folks are going to do some math and try to cash in by totalling the truck and I'm in the same position I was in three years ago. One time was enough...can't imagine seven!!!

None of mine were totaled at least.

I hit an brand new parked Audi A4 a few years ago and left a note. My insurance company (AllState) was such a pain in the ass about covering it I dropped them once the car was finally taken care of. I'll always leave a note after what I've experienced myself.

Damn hopefully this one is just front and rear bumper jobs!

I had my truck parked in front of my sisters one night and woke up to a loud crash.
The guy was pulling a Uhaul front wheel car hauler and it broke loose from his truck and slammed up underneath mine. Snapped the leaf spring and smashed up my bumper and bedside. Of course he was uninsured and smelled of booze, he couldn’t really go anywhere though because all of the neighbors were outside. He ended up getting arrested lol.

Service writer was a joke but the body shop I took it to got my insurance to replace everything OEM. The total was 4-5k of damage all said and done.
Bed side isn’t matched very well but I have a lifetime warranty on the work so one day I’ll get it repainted.

Jesus lol!! So the guy had himself a little too much to drink and tried and failed to hook up a trailer? Good grief. I mean, he must have just put the ball in place and not locked it, or attached chains. What a son of a bitch! Glad you got it fixed up.
I hope they can do the same for me. Hell, I would love a truck upgrade and all, but it is such a hassel to find a truck and go through the process of transferring all my info to a new registration and all that. That's what I went through with my previous vehicle.
Just left work early to go pick up a rental. My truck is not driving very well all of a sudden.
It has the shakes when I accelerate at low speeds. And the idle is bad...

No it was hooked on the ball still lol, I think he clipped my truck and then the trailer part broke loose from him.

I hear you man, dealing with the insurance/ body shops etc is a pain in itself. The process of finding another truck is even more stressful.

Oh I see. I can't imagine doing some crazy shit like that.
You got a good looking truck there. If I do have to get another one I will probably go for the 2001-2004 model, like yours. Mine was running fine until this afternoon but it is getting up there mileage wise and is nearly 20yrs old. But honestly I really don't care too much. I felt like it could have gone another 250,000 or 10yrs
