Damn you KO2s

I’ve had zero problems with my KO2s, on my second set. Great all round tire. Every tire in here gets a bad rap occasionally.

Since when is the manufacturer warranty subject to retail oversight? If you can’t get them properly balanced, it sounds like they are defective.

Where do you live? Sounds like all the tire folks you are dealing with are incompetent.

None of this shit would happen at Discountire.

 

I’ve had BFGS on almost every truck I’ve owned over the years and never had a problem or a flat. I put 37” Goodyear MTRs on my Jeep and they have been great tires too for the hardcore stuff I do in my Jeep. Every tire is a compromise. You just need to find what compromises suit you best.

Always used KO’s and KO2’s on every one of my Toyotas, and drove each of my trucks over 250k miles using KO’s on them, including daily offroad for work. I admit and have said before that they don’t do as well as other tires on snow here, but I drive on dry rocky desert roads mostly and rarely see snow, and for that they are excellent tires. Ive never had a blowout, ever, while using them and their treadlife has been good for me.

Sorry for all you who have had issues with them, I really have not shared a similar experience like yours with them.

2 years on KO2 load C rated. Zero issues. Love them.

 

Ever since the retailer has to pay out of their pocket for replacement. A dealer does not have to replace a tire. A dealer IS required to hold the tire for an engineer to look at.

Most retailers just eat the cost of the tire and hope the engineer issues credit to them for it, but it's not required.

So basically, if you're not a large chain, you cant afford to just replace tires. It's common practice to have the customer buy the replacement, then issue the credit to the customer after an engineer comes out and approves the warranty

 

What size and load are your KO2's?

 

Nope. Only person that gave me resistance was the salesman at Samsclub when I first bought them, and all he said was that they wouldn't be under manufacturer warranty because they were not mounting them.
My shop has been super awesome and has always been patient and told me to bring them back in whenever I have issues. My buddy who works at Samsclub said to bring them in this weekend and he will balance them, and take them off the rim and put them on different rims to rule out the rim being bad, and if nothing works, he will warranty the defective tires for me.
I live in Hawaii and all the folks I've dealt with so far have seemed very competent, luckily.

 

Reason I went through them was because I got 265/70/17 KO2s on sale for $180 each. Now we know why they were cheap! Haha not. I just am unlucky and got a bad tire most likely. Oh well. We live and we learn. That's life.

 

So basically this is a non issue and thread. Lovely.

 

It BECAME that, yes. I ended up texting my buddy that works there after remember he works there and he is now taking care of me.
We still aren't sure the vibes are even from the tires. Lol.
I did however drop from consistently 18mpg to 13mpg in the last month so I'm quite certain it's a balancing issue.

It is so you can get the best ride by matching those two points..

 

Just had my ko2s rotated after first 6k. Noticed the tire shop "balance" as well did not work after getting a shimmy at 60.

Went back and tire shop did a centric zero balance ... sounded impressive ... they claimed camrys and Tacomas are notorious for touchy balance issues ... fixed it.
