I miss the old lead paint, love it in my drinking water. With a chaser of of xylene and toluene. If you have had or no anyone who has a contaminated well it’s really cool. Yes it sucks to have less durable products, however protection of the environment is not a dumb idea. Industry cannot be trusted to due the right thing, they have proven that for years. The gulf oil spill comes to mind. Or how about the island of plastic garage floating in the ocean, it’s the size of Texas. I’m not some tree hugging liberal, but let’s get real. If we don’t do something, we will all be taking a vacation in a toxic landfill.

Even worse than that is all the chemical dumping companies and people have done for hundreds of years. Polluted our waters. Why do you think cancer rates are so high? IMO the damage has already been done. It’s just only gonna continue to get worse, regardless of the cleanup efforts or how “green” we try to be

I didn’t vote for the GD tree huggers, this is not my fault... those Californian‘s impact everyone else’s world. If “we” voted the green crazys in, we can vote them out as well.

Dude, nobody said the switch was bad. The resultant easier to chip paint is not as good is all. Geez.

Exactly. Now, before we get banned, we need to switch topics and let this one die.

I do like the finish on my paint, at first I thought it was a solid color. However when you look close when it’s clean, not very often, it has a sparkle to it. Haven’t got any chips that I’ve noticed. The front grill surround and flares are plastic, and have a few chips. The color seems to go deep so the chip doesn’t show. I hope long term the finish will hold up. I do wax the truck, but not as often as I should.

Hypocritical horseshit. You drive a Tacoma that is 100% pieced and manufactured by these evil “chemical dumping companies” you so readily condemn. Every single part. Your airbags? They’re made of nylon 6,6 — created from a very sophisticated molecule developed by these same “dumping” companies.

Ride a horse and live in a mud hut with no utilities. Then you can rail against the evils of industry.

Yep you’re right, it’s either black or white no in between. Too bad companies can’t operate while still abiding by regulations that are updated periodically as we learn how the environment is affected by processes we allow.

The bald eagles just started coming back to live along my home river here in Ohio in the last few years now that the water quality has improved immensely. I’ve probably seen 20 this year. When I was a kid I didn’t even know bald eagles used to live in Ohio.

Change is usually for the better. You’ll be okay.

I haven't participated on a forum - Mercedes, MINI, Acura, Infiniti, Nissan, Honda, and now Toyota - in the past ten years where people don't complain about their paint jobs and blame the manufacturer. The "good old days" of lacquers are long gone.

That and the brainwashing done by the wax, sealer, ceramic coating industry. The idea that people now pay thousands for paint correction, wrap their cars in plastic, and then lather ceramic coatings all over their vehicles, AND pay thousands of dollars for the privilege is laughable when you step back and think about it. It's like a snowball of bullshit rolling downhill gaining momentum along the way. It reminds me of how people used to cover their cloth seats with clear plastic. In the 50's people had plastic slip covers for their furniture.

Clear bra om the leading edges of the vehicle and Dr. Color Chip are your best defense.

It looks rusted already. I’d say this happened before you even took delivery and you’re just not noticing it. No way it rusts that fast

Hey now (said in my best indignant voice) I'll have you know I waxed my truck 2X last year with the absolute best stuff Walmart had to offer...
