2018 totaled

Hey guys and gals

So I got a 2018 Tacoma off road back in March and was loving it. Unfortunately on Tuesday someone ran a red light when I was taking my boy to school and t boned me my air bags did not deploy but truck was not driveable it’s a lease so I hope it is totaled cause I also got gap insurance. What are my chances that it’s totalled??

Yeah but don’t want a wrecked truck. Cause now it will go on the car fax I wanted to buy it after the lease was up

 

Too hard to tell from that pic. Will depend on how much damage was done to frame, body structure around cab area and front drivetrain if any.
First look will need fender, door, suspension parts other attachment points straightened.

 

If you got hit in the doors the airbags would of deployed.

Have a wider pic and some from other side to see panel gaps?

 

You can always turn the lease in early after its fixed.

 

Just this one I was in a lot of pain the we’re going 40 or 45

 

This is a good example where leasing is better than financing. Yes it sucks if it is not written off, but at least it will not be your problem with with that huge claim on carfax as you can just return it at lease end.

 

The bed also has a little bit of damage I got spun around 180 degrees

 

Not always, he's not the only one ive heard of that didn't have them deploy. Although it doesn't look like he was hit too hard. So probably not enough force?

 

From those pics I say they will fix it unless there is quite a bit of unseen damage. After it's fixed just see if you can get off the lease if you lease a new 2019

 

They are controlled by inertia sensors. Not sure of the amount that it actually needs to reach in order for it to trigger. I’m sure there are various variables. I think @hiPSI talked about this is one thread when we discussed the false deployment on a Chevy Colorado.

 

Only a gen2 but not a signal air bag went off in my wreak. They were all functioning properly too. Mine was a quasi-slow impact so I’m sure the 20lb brains have a Calc in the ECU to signal the deploy order.

 

I have used variable variables in varying quantities in various tables...

 

Sorry that happened... but I wouldn’t want to buy that truck now. Finish lease and start over...

 

Airbags didn't deploy because the impact sensor weren't hit .The hit wasn't where the sensors are located .

For sure parts:
*FL fender
*FL door
*FL suspension
*FL fender flare
Possible parts:
*FL fender bracket
*FL fender liner
*FL hood hinge

Def no frame damage!
