No fires. Although I did have a small hiccup in the beginning because I forgot that it gets itself hot and then settles back down to 150. I turned it off accidentally and forgot you can reset it to go back on. So I just did a full shutdown mode operation and restarted it. Things are going smoothly now!

Slightly overdone. I found the right side of the grill burns hotter than the left. However with that said, for the first cook, pretty damn good. Even though they were a bit overdone they were still quite juicy. Would eat again.

Ya it will take you a little while to get the cooking down on it. Glad you made it through it with no issues though. :)

Ya definitely. Just glad the first cook went without any (major) issues! She held temp perfectly the whole time. So excited for Sunday. Got all my meat today

You can slide the flame diverter box to help even out temps. I've never bothered.
Line the grease bucket with foil, easy cleanup.
Raise the vent cap as high as it will go. The 2 fingers method is too low.
A good handheld probe thermometer will help get perfect cooks.
Buy Grill Grates for even better burgers and steaks. Cooking for 2, a 12x12" works great.
Let me know if I can help you spend more money. :D

Ha! I actually pulled my GMG bucket and used my shitraeger one cuz it already had grease in it. Want to line the GMG bucket and keep it pristine. Got the drip tray liners already.
Have a thermopro instant read the new version. Seems to do pretty good. Not going to buy that $80 one I saw you post relatively recently.
What are these grill grates you speak of? Are they different from what came with it?

I got the smallest they have, 12x12, and just sit it on the existing grates. There are guys on here that have bigger ones that fit and replace the existing grates.
    @Cold Iron @bvbull200 prolly others
Edit: the 12x12 is actually 10.5x12

I know you already did your burgers, but I put mine on the lowest temperature setting for 30 minutes, then crank it up to the highest for 15 minutes. Cheese goes on the last couple. Gets a nice crispy outside with a juicy inside.

    6 oz burgers, btw.

I have been using Tub O towels to clean mine . I leave a temp gauge in mine and cleans the glass nicely. Maybe want to try 0000 steel wool with the Tub o towels to clean probe if its all baked on?.I use 0000 steel wool to clean water spots off glass so think should clean the steel probe . Those wipes pretty amazing .
Pick up at NAPA or other auto parts stores

Grill Grates are the real deal, don't get them off Amazon those are cheap knockoffs. Same with the Vortex, Thermoworks thermometers, and a whole lot of other things BBQ which are cheap Chinese knockoffs.

It isn't that they just add grill marks they take temperatures up higher than without them. And the food that drips on them vaporizes and is much closer so actually works and adds more flavor. Also even outs heats across the surface. And eliminates flareups.

Replaced the grates on my Weber gasser with them and the food that comes off is pretty much the same as charcoal cooked in taste.

I bought a set for the 18" Jumbo Joe

When I rent a cabin with a grill I take them and the Jumbo Joe because who knows what has been cooked on them or last time cleaned. And with 2 18" and the GrillGrates I can cook steak for a small herd if I need to by splitting them.
