    That's such horseshit.

If the code needs to be patched it needs to be patched. It's the same busted ass code that makes people's trannies shift wonky. If the dealership can't get it to happen it's because they aren't doing a decent test.

Are the new trucks coming out of the factory with the new software?

After almost buying the Shift Sense Pro, I saw this thread. I took my truck into the dealer today. Presented copies of both TSB's and stated I had experienced erratic shifting, such as stumbling from a start, unexpected downshifts, lugging due to being in too high a gear at low speeds, and when hill climbing the transmission was constantly shifting. The advisor made copies of both TSBs and attached to the service order and noted my issues. The software update was completed within two hours. The mechanic noted that the update was made under the 0062-18 TSB. The truck drives with power now, so much better.

And no good. They told me that my VIN numbers are not a part of the TSB, and they could not duplicate the condition. Also, would not deal with vibration when braking because the rotors were still within spec. This was Toyota of Dallas, FYI. I would AVOID using them for any service work.

Kind of depends on how much you drive. I drive about 1600 miles a month and losing 2 mpg would cost me about $25 a month or $300 a year. That's not insignificant. Also depends on the percent lost. Going from 23 to 21 mpg isn't as bad as going from 19 to 17 mpg so the hit is different for different people.

I had the ECU update done along with the 15k Toyota care service and a 4 wheel alignment. It does seem like a significant improvement. I haven't put my Shift Sense Pro back on. It's not perfect but much better than before. I don't have to floor the pedal to accelerate to freeway speeds.

I would say keep that SSP. Most trucks are reverting back with the learning mode the truck has.

I still use my SSP from time to time even after the latest TSB. It definitely has reverted back to some of its old ways. Biggest complaint is how the transmission shifts up into 5th gear at 31 mph and just bogs. That's so dumb. Shifting is smoother and faster, but still painfully dull and doggy. I have ~1500 miles on the TSB. Using ECT while in D is quite nice though.

I wish people would quit giving reviews of their transmission updates based on their drive home...

Go to the last pages in that thread and you will see people that are reviewing this tsb after 2500 to 5000 miles on it.

In my opinion, the OVTune still doesn't have great shift maps. I haven't used my SSP with 1.05 yet, but I will try the different maps and see which one fits best.

I've been wanting to post on here about my absolute disgust for my 18' V6 Taco Transmission. Honestly I'm getting rid of it solely because the transmission. Driving it sucks so bad. I've got 7k miles.

Perhaps this update will provide hope. I love everything about the truck except it's effffing garbage gas pedal to engine to transmission to the wheels powering the truck.

I just took my 2017 Tacoma in for service today in SC.I stated transmission is searching for gears. The service writer was familiar with my complaint . The service dept. performed e.g. 1810 as stated on the invoice. Transmission is smoother with less searching and doesn't change at low rpm s . Ill give up 2 mpg for this.
