Yeah, I've removed most of my interior. There is a sensor on the floor under the plastic door sill trim piece just in front of the B-pillar. In the back, on a double cab, they are in the C-pillar near the bottom. None in the doors.

There are sensors on the door (what you are talking about is the harness connector from the door). The sensor is located around the area of door handle towards the bottom of door. The others are correct. Had the airbags deployed, then def would have been totaled .Good luck and glad you're ok.

OP was it a Honda that hit you?

    Hondas cause ALL car crashes.

Glad you and your boy are OK, that's the important thing! You can always get another truck - lease, purchase, or whatever. The important part is that you are OK!

I've had my head all up inside my doors; there are no airbag sensors in the doors. This is the sensor in the bottom of the C-pillar. You can read the part number... it is an airbag sensor. Pull up your front door sill trim and you'll see one just like it on the floor in front of the B-pillar.
    20180328_225842.jpg

Edit: Sorry, you might not see it unless you pull the B-pillar trim...

I think it varies by state, as I do have the title for my financed taco. Just has a section with the lien holder on it.

I hope you and your boy are O.k. Unless there is significant frame damage, which I doubt, they will probably fix that especially with no air bag deployment.

There are some other threads you guys can argue about lease/buy, let me tell you how to spend your money, and whatever else, so let's leave this one about OP, the boy, and the truck.

I wouldn't buy it if they fixed it. Get a new one, move on!

Not, got hit the same way with no airbag deployment on 08 taco. My insurance paid out a little over 8,000 for repairs and got the other driver to pay deductible ( other driver didn't stop at sign). Lead to getting frame and leaf spring recall getting done but hasn't been the same taco

What ever happened to people saving the money they need to purchase something outright? And actually owning something. Maybe then people would be more careful.

Airbags deployed.. depends on your insurance if they will run a break even. The truck has a really high salvage. State Farm is awful and they make it to where repair cost has to be above 75% of the vehicle.

My 2012 off-road wasn’t totaled with over $10,000 of damage. Rear ended sitting at a red light by a drunk driver. With these trucks holding excellent value they’re going to fix. After I received my truck from the body shop I traded in the following day.

Most likely not totaled. Would have a much better chance if those airbags would have deployed.

So first off I want to say new member, this came up in a feed of mine for some reason and I kept reading.
1st I will say, this is very unfortunate glad everyone is alright but most likely you will have this fixed.
Second, yes there are millennials that are offended by everything but I don't think the one poster was one of them and certainly am not. But I will say millennials are conditioned to spend money they don't have the minute they become high school seniors I being one of them and some of us take the road everyone else does.
Leasing is most likely a godsend for this guy and here's why. He got drilled and has a way out of his truck without loosing much money at the end of the term. If not he would be paying for a truck that is worth 25 percent of what he bought it for and would have to hope he can keep it long enough to pay off buying it. 2 if you bought a truck that isn't as good as the one built right after it because someone wanted to just get home that day at the facotry and not make sure it's perfect, you have a way out while it's most likely still under warranty. Consider leasing as another insurance policy. Yes you pay more money but you know you took care of the truck and if it holds up and seems like it's well build top to bottom you can buy it at the end. And if anything happens that is out of the norm you didn't just throw 30 to 40k into something you don't really desire any longer and will cost you thousands more down the road in repairs. Vehicles are not investments or even good purchases anymore they don't hold value and after that lease term is up 50 percent of them are ready for the yard, with this recalled and that recalled. Believe me leasing makes plenty of sense even if it costs you more, just like full coverage insurance makes sense even when it's more.

Toyota cannot make The Tacoma fast enough!!! Its a great truck, iam 48 and have never been without one since i was 16. None of the 4 trucks have ever left me stranded or had anything but normal maintenance. Hope you get another one, glad to see nobody got hurt!!

It looks like it took a hard hint to wheel. Could have major suspension damage, front diff damage, and possible frame damage at control arm connection. Only body shop/Ins adjuster will be able to give you an exact answer our looking for (totaled, or not)

Exactly, make payments to yourself while drawing interest/dividends... then pay in full and NOT increase the cost of the vehicle by paying financing charges to other institutions. May not work for everyone, but I prefer that strategy.
