Three of my outfits from my remote AK trip back in August had Litespeeds. Amazing reels and lightweight. Handled Char, Rainbows and screaming/leaping Coho salmon with ease. Stopped em all in their tracks.

When I put my salmon rig together, I didnt want to break the bank until I figured out if i was going to keep at it or not. I got the lamson liquid. I’d buy it again in a heartbeat.

I have a stupid question. I see guys fly fishing for trout & crappie right now & when they get a hook up- instead of reeling in & using the drag on that Sage reel they paid big bucks for- they just pull line & pile it up at their feet. Only time I don’t see this is when they get a larger hook up. I’m assuming this is so they can release the fish & already have line out for the next cast?

Yes fancy drag is for bigger fish and they’re likely saving time/effort by not getting the lil fish on the reel

No need to get the little ones on the reel.

Yeah I fish with a 5 weight setup and almost never use the drag system. If I get into a good fish I’ll let the fish pull the line into the reel and then fight with the reel.

Yup. No need to put em on the reel if you don’t need to use any drag on the fish.

Yes. Well from his eBay store, but I’m sure his actual store is just as good.

    Competitive prices and quick shipping.

I got some foam strike indicators from him on Ebay. Shipped to my door in 2 days. He sent me a Thank You card offering 10% off next order direct from his website. Was wondering how his flys are.

My mentality is, 95% of the time ii never use the reel, but for the 5% i've HAD to use it on big fish.....i'm sure glad i had good equipment.

I've been on several guides, and each has their own philosophy on what's more important (line, rod, reel).

Yeah I don't go crazy on a reel but they make some really nice stuff in the 200 dollar range that I figured is reasonable for my 5 weight setup that gets fished 50+ times a year. I have a Sage One X rod, Sage 3500 reel and I swap line every other year or so. Think I have a scientific angler currently. I previously had orvis line and didn't love it. Got a new Recon setup last year for my 8 weight, love that rod.

I love my recon set up. Not a huge fan of the textured hydros line (maybe i need to line up).

Went on a guide trip, the guy had TFO stuff 4wt rods, over weighted line, and that thing shot like a dream. I am trying out the MPX and GPX stuff soon, but i think overlining is the key

My 3 weight is a TFO. They make nice stuff for shorter money. Be careful planning to a rod, some rods won't be happy. I don't fish areas that I need to really shoot out line that often. It looks cool doing it but it's typically not effective for fishing haha

I fish my small stream 3wt rod with 4wt line. Loads the rod way better than 3wt line does.

I have had good luck with the 3 Lightspeed reels I have. I think they may be discontinued now.
