    Really? I've got 285/75/16 Toyo Open Country ATs (E range tires too) and haven't had any issues stopping, even with the RTT on the bed rack. Granted, I still need sliders and front and rear bumpers but so far, the stock brakes have worked fine. I just did the fronts when I first got the truck and will wait to do the upgrade when brakes are due again.

    You sure your rear drums are in good working order? Depending on mileage/condition they might need servicing...if they aren't holding up their end then your front brakes are having to do a majority of the work and that might be why you aren't feeling very confident in your brakes. Fronts do most of the work anyway but without the rears they'll be doing too much.

    I have the same weight as you plus a little more armor and haven't noticed any real difference in braking from when my truck was basically stock.

    You either have to drill out the stock banjo bolts to accept the 13WL Calipers, or buy new brake lines with the correct fitting. I recommend new stainless steel brake lines. I’m running the LCE Tundra to Tacoma conversion kit which comes with all the stock hardware (hard flared lines, brackets, and ss lines)

    Doing my research towards a future Tundra brake swap. Saw a post where the OEM banjo was used but was hitting the aftermarket (Icon or something) coil-over. Looking on Summit Racing, you can get replacement banjo bolts with a much smaller profile head and that have the flare in them already so no drilling of the OEM banjo required. I already have longer, Crown brake lines and don't want to have to replace them again so will be either drilling the stock banjo bolts or replacing them with new ones. Leaning towards new ones that are already flared and have the smaller bolt head.

    Is this true for the 3.4L also? A separate sending unit for the gauge and ecu?

    Yeah the one for the ECU is a tad more accurate and internally grounded rather than through the engine block (again why it's more accurate) the one for the gauge isn't necessarily innacurate but because the actual gauge display is center deadened with special circuitry (170-225) to make it appear normal unless things are very out of whack it doesn't need to be very accurate. Hence why the stock gauge cant tell you when you are over heating, it can only tell you that you have overheated

    I hardly ever refer to the dash gauge any longer because of this.

    Regarding the differences seen between the two, It is mostly about response time to temp changes, as in warm up etc. I've only had one experience with overheating on this rig (when the radiator was plugged up with mud and airflow was severely restricted) but the dash gauge was essentially useless as an actual indicator of the severity of the problem and the variance of running temp in response to changing conditions, high speed, low speed, climbing, etc. I was very glad to have the SG in that situation.
