Never tried, but doesn’t that pinch the hell out of your fingers?

I think most compound finger shooters shoot bows that are 44 inches or longer due the string having less pinch.

Don't let it overwhelm you. Archery has grown alot in the last 30 years. Figure out what you want to do, how much you want to spend and then ask questions. Everyone I know thats into archery loves to talk about it. Enjoy!

you CAN, doesnt mean you should...;) I have shot my compound without a release, I just wasnt as accurate. I like using my release as it helps me hold for longer periods. I'd say the majority of people that have compounds use releases. Just like theres a few compound guys that use aluminum arrows it comes down to personal preference.

it can get to be a real expensive hobby to start, but once you get set up you really dont need much to keep going.

Exactly. I shot 3 deer this year with the same arrow. No new arrows for me!

also broadheads and blades are my most common expensive loss...I messed up 2 sets of blades shooting at a deer this season. Arrows are just fine just need to put new blades on.

I keep my practicing to 40 or less. I'm not a great shot so I want as close as possible. Always respect people that practice farther shots and are good at it. I never could be. I inherited shaky hands from my mom's family which is not real helpful.

I shoot Muzzy 3 blade and last year I found some 3 packs for $10. I think I have around 20 new ones now. Can't have too many. After I shoot a deer I trash the blades. If the body spins good, it gets reused.

Im definitely in my comfort zone at 40 or less...Im really not sure how far out my bow would be effective so I try to keep it under 40yds. Plus for me going out past that is more time and more obstacles such as sticks/branches you cant see that would possibly deflect the arrow and cause a miss.

I'm on my phone and got it all screwed up. I ordered them from Midway. The 3 blade 100 grain are now $25 for a 6 pack.
