    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
    More progress

    For 290k miles.

I was kind of nervous it wouldn't look this good in here.

I’m seriously debating doing this to my truck. What do you think so far? What are the pros and cons?

I don’t think it can add much weight, I didn’t notice a difference.
I monstalined mine last summer, I like that I don’t have to worry about scratch’s, which I didn’t before anyway, no paint maintenance like waxing and stuff, washes easy and I’m sure there is more.

Cons: if you get some body damages it’s kinda more difficult to fix.

It all started so innocently with adjusting and lubing the hood latch. Then a wild hair crawled up inside me and suddenly the hood was painted black.

Not too shabby. Actually makes the dull 98-00 front end look better. You should paint the black bumper trim too.

Thanks. While I normally detest chrome, I kinda like the chrome grille on this truck. The bumper will eventually be replaced with a real one so I'm not putting any effort into it.

Matching shifter knobs. I had matching TRD carbon fiber knobs but after 20 years the resin started to crack so I went with the generic round shift knobs.

Absolutely love it! Now, I wouldn't have done it before a deer smashed into the side of the truck several weeks ago because my paint was in great shape. But after I replaced the fender and door it needed to be painted anyway so I went this route and freaking love it. Only con is the price, $2700 but the deer paid for most of it because of the insurance money

Well sure it's heavier, but only by like 30lbs from the material.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

The rational side of me knew it would probably look like that.

But I have been worried my bad luck with things would show me something I didn't want to see when I opened them up.

    Thankfully all is looking good.

Took a 20 mile dirt road from the desert up to the top of Big Bear (~8k ft) today to avoid the traffic going up the highway. Much better alternative

Nothing difficult but a fun drive nonetheless
