Some dealers install the basic wiring for an alarm on all their vehicles. They then try to sell you some expensive alarm system. If you don't buy it, they don't give you the expensive part but leave their jackleg wiring in. That's what it looks like to me.

You don't install anything just in case. It was after market alarm and the owners ask for a switch just in case the alarm is getting annoying or disfunctional. The basic harness wiring is specific to the type of the alarm you ask for.

You don't know some dealers lol. Just like putting running boards on, some dealers install alarms on everything and most customers pay. Some don't wan't them and, instead of uninstalling everything, they only take part of it and leave that button and the tie in to wiring.

You mean you never see running boards, vent shades, and all that crap dealers install?

I added remote start to my '16 limited. The install kit has a switch that is very similar, if not the same. My kit was was from 12V Solutions.

I had a dealer do this exact same thing to me as well... alarm components were already installed, just needed a proprietary jumper inserted into a socket for “activation”. Just another dealer addendum with extremely high profit margins... so high they could afford to have a few denials on purchase.

Perhaps an alarm install company could provide the jumper... or at least assist with activation if you want to utilize (most installers are willing to “take a look” and advise).
