Don’t know enough about jeeps to comment on what was wrong. The only saving grace for the guy was that he knew the owner of the dealership, so he was able to get a really nice deal on the Cherokee. He was pissed about the wrangler though, had it less than a month

I think Jeep overpriced themselves with the JL. There are still plenty of 18 inventory still laying around, and they are making a big marketing / incentive push on wranglers right now. Who the hell pays $50k+ for a Wrangler. Then again, Jeep crowd...

If you jump over to the JL forum, there are actually a lot of 3rd gen tacoma guys who moved to JL's. I was a bit surprised.

I’m ok when the dealer has reached that point in the negotiations... you’re now armed with more info to better deal next time. Best time to buy is when you don’t need to... take your time a beat that dealership up..!

This^ or take the quote and use it with other dealers to negotiate. When I was thinking of being a traitor and going to the Jeep cult, best price I got was $46k on a $52k MSRP JLU Rubi (LED, Alpine, Tow, Leather, Hardtop, etc.). Still too much for my comfort and glad looking back. I've jumped off the Tacoma bandwagon once before after Taco number 4, brief flirt with a full size silverado, traded back 5 months later to a Tacoma. Unless little ones or life dictates, I will probably always be in one.

I think the Gladiator is hideous, but I'm sure I'm in the minority.

oh I agree. been buying and trading vehicles a long time. they were literally upset when I asked for my keys to my Tacoma so I could leave. they wanted to keep me there as long as possible hoping I would change my mind. but nope. my Tacoma brought my daughter and myself home just fine. like I told them right as I walked out the door, "I have never traded a vehicle because I had to".

I actually dig the Gladiator a lot. and they are bringing a turbo diesel to the game. the problem is, from early reports from the dealer I was at you can look for those to sell at above msrp for quite some time. they plan to mark them up for "market value" from the get go. which is total horse shit. but, dealers do it every day. I won't pay over sticker for anything. hell, I have never paid sticker price for anything and don't plan on starting now.

I’m sure we’ll see some heavily modified versions that are quite worthy, but I’ll never buy one.

I'm with you. Somehow Fiat managed to fuck up the easiest model to create. I also agree that their pricing is whack. I think I saw where you have to spend 32k on Wrangler to get AC.

I probably would of bought at that price point... getting close to a 12% reduction demonstrates good negotiation tactics (as long as there were no BS dealer addendums, delivery fees, or other such plus ups).

Nope and agreed it was a decent price, according to the JL forums anything at 10% off MSRP is what guys are getting, trade was a bit low, they wanted to give me $30k for my 17 JBL/Tech/Prem TRD OR DCSB with 14k miles, got $32k from Toyota last month moving to my 19.
