3rd Gen Tacoma Bumper Covers Color Suggestions

Yay, mine will match..

 

Back in the 80s and 90s you saw this a lot because the plastic bumpers would always look like a different color, even with using the same paint code. I’ve also noticed this on the Tacos, hence the reason I got TPO Swirl.

 

Well, Let me explain it a different way. Lets say you have a recipe for hot and spicy halibut. You take that recipe and give it to 5 top chefs. They all go to the same store and buy the exact same ingredients and make the hot spicy Halibut from the same recipe. The taste will be a touch different from each chef. The paint code is a recipe. The mixing machine that use that recipe might not be calibrated the exact same so one give just a dash more salt, The other a dash more pepper. Now one bumper is more spicy.One more salty. But they both used the same paint code. Get it?

 

No I understand.. and a touch different is a far cry from one adding mango and the other adding alvacados. Slight color variation is different then completely different colors. We can agree to disagree. Mine turned out pretty damn close, unfortunately the other persons did not. Not sure if it’s his vehicle paint or the covers paint. I have seen nothing but good results from the “recipies,” guess that’s why major chains do so well.

 

Will someone please be kind enough to tell me how to order a set in MGM with no sensor holes? They're not on the website. Is their a waiting list?

Like you said... SLIGHT variations make sense. The quicksand makes total sense. That’s a SLIGHT variation. Mine, however, is not slight. It’s obviously blue and not at all close. It’s obviously a different color from far off. I don’t blame @eCOOL1 at all. It’s not his fault. I think he’s trying his best, and it’s his painter, but at the end of the day I have to live with blue bumpers, and it’s not a slight variation that’s normal...

Never thought I'd get hungry talking about paint matching lol. Side Note: I do have that disclaimer on the website.

 

We do have a disclaimer since paint matches are nearly impossible without having the truck in front of us, but I'm a real guy too who wants everything on my car to look the way I envisioned it. For this first run. If any of you guys feel like your color is too far off, shoot me a message, and we'll work out something out!

 

I just want my quicksand covers. Are they picked up yet? I have tons of patience, but seeing other people with theirs have made me antsy!

 

Yeah, no dice over the weekend with getting the parts, but he promised me tonight which means they would go out tomorrow. All you quicksand guys have had an extraordinary amount of patience considering we've had your money for about 3 weeks, and you still have no parts! I don't think this is going to get pushed off again. He was very apologetic about not being able to get them done yet when we spoke.

Btw- just to be clear also, the intent was never to make a dig on ecool or his product! I think they are an awesome item that fixes an issue some of us that did not need or want the tech package had. I also placed my order knowing if they did not match to my satisfaction, I would either paint them flat black. It was initially just to see if it was just the one vehicle picture that was shown so far. I’ve actually ordered the color match paint from automotivetouchup.com and that is WAY off so it’s not just here. I think cement just happens to be one of those tricky colors.

Yeah, reading back through, I decided to clarify my intent and meaning.

I will say me and cement are starting to have a love hate relationship with it’s temperamental coloring though lol

This is special ordered color matched paint;

 

I placed an order a week ago, how long does it take to get get in the mail and will I receive a confirmation when it does?

 

I have the same disclaimer as @shane100700 I’m still happy with the product and cement is a tricky color. I’d MUCH rather have slightly blue caps over black any day of the week. @eCOOL1 even offered to replace mine, repaint, give me black or refund me. Even though he has a paint disclaimer.
