    Hi Everyone,

So we have an opportunity to purchase our hopefully new Taco!

The dilemma we are in is that it has the Tonneau OEM cover and the Predator tube steps.

WE simply want a BASIC vehicle and have no need for those items.

I hesitated in the Buy/Sell area on this as we A: haven't taken delivery, and B: haven't uninstalled them as we do not have our truck yet.

So a quick question.....should we pursue this truck and sell the Tonneau and Predator things or wait for a truck that can come in with those off.

    Thoughts?

We are in the Denver area.

The cover should sell pretty quick (on TW people are looking for them). Put the steps on Craigslist and someone will grab them with in a week

You have to trade bed rails with them too just to let you know but swapping them is really easy. It’s just a couple bolts on each side

Hmm....not sure what the bed rail thing means......We simply want the truck w/o the cover.

Will do some research tomorrow on it.

    thanks for the info

I have the tube steps and never use them...as in I get in by stepping right into the cab, I'm 5'9". They do protect the sides somewhat from rock chips.

The bed rails are different if the truck comes with OEM cover. They have slots and cuts in the rail for the locking of it. So you would have to trade with the person who buys your cover or they have to buy those rails separately.

Maybe give the cover a try before you sell it, comes in very handy and once you use it you may love it, or not.

Use the fact that you don't want them to negotiate. Tell the dealership that if they want to sell you something you don't want you are not willing to pay much for them!

Tell the dealer to remove them and the cost. And when they say 'we can't', smile and say 'we'll shop elsewhere now' and stand to leave.

Very unlikely they'll let you walk over those small items.

I step over the tube steps, but my wife uses them. One plus is they do keep some idiot from opening the door of his beater into your new truck. I like the bed cover, but then I don't haul a lot or very often.

I thought I didn't want a tonneau cover either, my truck came with one. Decided after the first hour that it is a great thing! It's still on my truck 2 years later. I'm keeping mine!!!

I dont like tonneau covers since they can be a pain when you actually need to use the whole bed, but my predator steps have stayed on.

I like that they are obvious enough that people use them instead of sliding off the seats. Myself, I am fine climbing in and being aware of seat damage over time, but passengers never reall think of that and slide away. The steps also have a few marks that would have otherwise been dings. -1 for looks +1 for protection and practicality. I never rock crawl so not worried on that part either

I woudlnt mind Buying a truck with either option if the upcharge isnt rediculous. Those parts seem to sell in no time locally around here.

Both would sell very quick in the Denver area. Probably not for what you own them for in financing unless you negotiate them in.

    I would buy the truck.

When I bought my 2017, It had the same options. I didn’t think I would like the tonneau cover, but I ended up liking it a lot. It is easy to remove if you need to haul a motorcycle or something.

I sold the steps for $350. Got a buyer pretty quick.

Tonneau cover keep... predator steps sell, only good for getting pant legs dirty
