Yeah, got a job with a company that does glass facades and curtain wall systems in new construction. Will be working as a project manager for them. Office is in Livermore, but I'll likely commute in from a surrounding area. Leave here in June, start July 1

Nice man that should be some solid experience. I just did the commute from VA to AZ and it was a fun time. Hope you can give yourself a couple extra days to enjoy the trek out west.

Yeah, I’m looking for places between San Jose and the Walnut Creek Area. Tons to do, few hours from so many different things-whether it be the mountains, beach, or desert.

Ah shit, I didn’t notice your location change. You’re the EE from ODU? I’m CEE about to graduate from there. I’ve done flagpole a few times with you.

What are you doing out in AZ?

Im actually a mech, but thats awesome man. Yea thats right I remember you came in with the runner guys I think. I took a new job out here, its in telecom so we will see, but man I love the area. Just like cali without the beach, but the mentality out here is adrenaline for sure. Wheeling, shooting, moto, biking is what many do out here along with peacing out to cool spots/cali on the weekends. Its amazing how dead of a lifestyle VA is compared to how guys are out here. Im sure you will enjoy the change. I wont ever go back for that reason alone, but Im also a west coast guy to begin with though.

Fun fact: I think the AZ guys live up to the TW savagery that they are referred to as.

Yeah! I used to be stationed there from 2012-2015 so I’m not a total stranger to the area. My wife will be getting stationed at Portsmouth naval hospital to do her residency in pediatrics, so we’ll be there for 3 years.

All this talk of fabbing and welding made me want to go practice more. I’m relatively new (only been welding maybe 10 months?) and wanted to try my hand at “stacking dimes”. Came out decent for my first time trying it! Then I ran outta wire. Whomp whomp.

Thanks I appreciate that greatly. And there’s always the possibility of staying longer! But as of now the minimum is 3 years. That’s the downside of military life is moving away once you get settled and make a bunch of friends.

That is true and we get used to people moving away around here. We see it as places to visit when our friends leave the area, and sometimes free bed to sleep on. Haha

So... install is done. Everything went well. I was going to go ahead and set the coil overs at the max setting and the adjustment “flange” was very difficult to move. I stopped and just figured that I’d wait. I’m planning on going to NTB for the alignment and paying for the year “plan” so I’m not too worried about getting it aligned again. Before anyone asks, I did loosen the set screw, a lot to make sure that it was disengaged. Does anyone have any advice other than turn harder, lol. I’m wiped out. I did the lift and put a TRD pro skid plate. Took me ten hours lol. I will say that once I did one side, the other side was much quicker. As with anything I suppose. I’d like to get the tires on tomorrow, but discount tire (best price, with a road force balancing machine), isn’t open until Monday. I’m thinking that I’ll go ahead and get it aligned tomorrow. Wheels and tires shouldn’t make a difference, correct? Just wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations or advice. Thank you in advance.

Edit: I’m running a gently used icon stage four lift with billet upper control arms.

For the icons is it just a collar you turn on a threaded shock body, like kings? If so WD40 on the threads really helps.

Got it, thanks bud. I’m going to go cover them in penetrating fluid and let them sit overnight. Hopefully it’ll help.

Don’t know if that’s necessary, but probably won’t hurt! Good luck. Oh and make sure the truck is jacked up with front tires off the ground.

Ok. Cool. Hopefully all that it was is some dry threads. When I tried earlier, I had just finished with the install. Wheels were still off of the truck.

Hell yeah dude. I’ll be down that way some, have a trip planned to Havasupai in Oct. and I’m sure I’ll be there for some wheeling too.

And yeah, I was with the Justin and Corry group, IIRC.

But I’ve heard about the AZ group with perma bands, 30 day bands, etc.

What's up fellas? I live in Isle of Wight county. Got an excellent garage for working on vehicles and such. I go on terminal leave from the Navy in about a month, but I have a local gig (Petersburg) lined up for a post military career so I'm staying put for a while.

I'm not currently certified but I am a qualified aviation welder with quick access to a mig machine if the need ever arises. I plan on doing some upgrades to a little 2004 Taco I just picked up (once the new frame is installed). Other than that I do a lot of bass fishing in Suffolk and surrounding areas. Always looking for bass fishermen to fill the back seat in tournaments, Bass Chasers & the 460 Draws on Sundays.
