Did you sign up for fishlore.com? I think I saw your post over there. I commented and told you the pleco needs a new home! That tank is going to get too small for him and youll need a different type of pleco that stays smaller! Do lots of research Charlie. I know you are an exceptional pet keeper! And responsible pet owner so I have faith youll keep these fish nice and happy! If you need a hand dont hesitate to reach out as I don’t live far from ya!

Also don’t buy anymore fish. Your tank is probably about stockedto capacity. But if you decide you want to upgrade you let me know! I am going to be aquas apong mine soon after I find some nice slate rocks

Hope not its stocked to capacity for sure! The pleco bio load is killer!

My managuense cichlid. Had him since he was a tiny guy. Probably about 6 years old right now; chilling in his 75 gallon tank with an overflow 10 gallon sump filter set up.

Yea, he’s definetley an aggressive one. He’s been going after the spiny pleco in the tank lately.

I had a pair of Dempsey’s a couple years back; I miss those guys.

Tiger Oscars, but I need at least a 40-gallon tank :(

I also think Mbu puffers are pretty cool...

tiger oscars need a minimum of 55 gallons to be happy. a 40 is barely big enough for them to turn around. dont believe the little card at petsmart and petco they lie. one card says the common pleco needs 30 gallons... they can get to be 18 inches long... thats as big as my tank is wide. itd never be able to turn around.

I have a relatively small pleco in my 8-gallon tank...

    I'm guessing it's not a common pleco?

snap a pic if you can.

how long has the pleco been in there? and what is relatively small? no pleco should be in an 8 gallon tank. Ill bet your water parameters are all out of whack with that guy in there.

all fish start out small and grow to there full size obviously! you didnt just pop out as a full grown adult. it takes a little while for them to grow but no pleco should be in an 8 gallon tank thats just bad fish keeping. the smallest plecos which are Zebra Plecostomus get to be 4-5 inches and need a minimum of 25 gallons.

I would try and rehome him or maybe trade him to a local fish store. tell them you were given a tank by someone and they had this fish in it and you want the fish to find a better fitting tank. they might give you a store credit. but you have alot of fish in an 8 gallon tank. if your dad doesnt bite on the 30 gallon I have a 10 gallon kit Ill sell you for $20 and Ill give you some media to cycle the tank with from my already established tank. you let me know Charlie. Im down in Wyncote. Go to Hidden Reef and Fish Factory for all your questions and needs. Just stay away from the pretty ladies at hidden Reef. I know you too well LOLOL

You want him? How long do I have to give him away before he gets too big? I would also like to point out that I didn't buy him. He came with the tank!

70 gallons is ALOT of tank. Id love a 70 gallon but my girlfriend wont allow it. youd be able to aquascape that tank well get it all established and put lots of different fish in it. I would try and find somewhere that the tanks are on sale for $1 a gallon. places do that alot. wait for a little while
