Those two sentences can’t exist together. One has to be wrong.

Because I have more than one car and I have this junk on two of them. I don't want any more cars with mirrors that blink or bumpers with radar. You can keep your adaptive cruise control and lane monitoring and whatever else too. Until I can sit in the back seat with a martini and let the car drive itself, I'll just do all the work myself, thanks.

60 mo financing??? Sounds like you couldn’t afford it in the first place. Get a Tacoma you can afford with no payments and stack cash...

Do people not like to pay things off anymore? I understand when a life change demands a different vehicle, but personally I dont like to get rid of stuff before its paid off and I've gotten a good amount of moneys worth out of it.

I do pay my Toyotas off long before I trade or sell them, but I'm in no rush. Everyone's financial situation is different, but as long as you get a low interest rate and the fee for the use of "the bank's money" for a few years is reasonable, you may as well hold onto your cash for any emergencies that may happen, rather than walking into a dealership and plunking down a wad of $36,000 all at once. If you wish, you can always pay it off sooner by sending more than the monthly payment whenever you choose to. Just my reckoning. YMMV.

There is nothing insulting about not being able to afford a new vehicle.

I can’t afford a new Tacoma or a Ford (which is what I want after this truck).
Thats not a hit against me its just those vehicles brand new are too expensive.

Its not a tragedy for someone to not have a new car thats worth close to or more than they make per year. Whats a tragedy is that people feel pressure to buy things they can’t afford and spend a lifetime paying a bank instead of building their own wealth.

You can paint your truck if you really like the cement color and still save money.

Agreed! Had no personal vehicle for two years to save every penny to pay cash. The sacrifice was worth everybody’s face at the dealer when you walk in with cash.

I would say you would turn a few heads if you walk into a dealership with a sack full of 40 grand.

Well, if you had $40k laying around and you spent it on a truck instead of taking the 0% APR loan and letting the $40k earn interest... you might not be as smart as you think you are.

Have you met members of the general public? Lots of not smart people out there.

Back when I was looking to buy my house, many years ago, my wife and I were sitting at a realtor's desk, looking through the sales listings. At a desk right behind me (very close) was a young Asian couple with their grandma speaking to another agent. Grandma had walked in carrying one of those tall, brown shopping bags with handles and set it down next to her chair. She did not speak a word. Several times I heard the agent ask the couple "What about this house?" The young husband always replied "We only want a house that's $150,000." The agent must have been showing them homes with a higher asking price. The man kept replying "Only a house that's $150,000."
Finally, the agent explained about how these were only asking prices and explained about making an offer. He then asked the couple why they were so rigid and stuck on that $150K price? You guessed it- The husband replies : "Because that's what we have in the bag."

I didn’t read through all of the comments, but I wouldn’t trade your 17 in if you plan on lifting it. That will void the warranty.

No different then lifting a 17. TSS isn’t affected by a lift. Worst case is a simply recalibration.

Man, what do you all DO for a living that you can just walk in to a dealer and give them $40k in cash?

Must be all high ranking CEOs, sports heroes or rock stars or something.

Buying a $40k anything usually involves payments for most of us. If the interest rate is low, then so what?

 I sure want to know what I'm doing wrong, since y'all are RICH!!!:proposetoast:
