But it can sir, quite easily! Funny thing is mine came from a ‘15 4Runner with less miles than my truck, also these only come in the pro t4r’s now lol

Well the Atkinson-Otto thing the 2gr does is inherently more complicated and a solid case for less reliability if you ask me. The drivetrain other than that is essentially the same as 1995=good.

2018s have tss. Auto high beams are helpful at night, and adaptive cruise helps with long distance fatigue. Necessary? No, but it's nice to have.

I saw a 3rd generation on the side of the road the other day with the hood up. No one there. On the way back, A tow truck had it all hooked up and ready to leave. It was a nice looking truck though.

Absolutely!!!! Driving isn't supposed to be like your livingroom or office or a video arcade (remember thise)It's meant to be driving. All this tech has made people complacent and extremely lazy. Drives me nuts:annoyed:

Yup no shifting issues when you have the mt!
I honestly dont get the hate for the 3rd gen
I think they are sharp looking and have more to offer. 1st gen owners said the same thing about the new 2nd gens when they cameout. Stated they were ugly and were too big. I drove my father in laws 3rd gen.The new interior is pretty sweet compared to my 2nd gen. Just wish the 3rd genes had the bigger displacement non Atkinson cycle engine, that would make it a homerun.

I liked a lot about my 3rd gen, just not the way it drove. It was a 2016, and they've done a lot of revisions on the software/firmware that control the trans. So maybe it's a lot better by now. If they came out with a turbo or supercharger for the 3rd gen, that would pique my interest for sure. With the s/c on my '14, I have a lot more power than my '16 had.

HaHaHa. I sold my 2015 DCLB and upgraded to a 2018 DCLB. Could not be happier. Maybe the 2016 had a few problems but my 2018 run great.

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a 3 gen. I also like the looks. My first gen I had for 17 yrs. So in 2032 I may be shopping for one.

There’s essentially nothing different with drivetrain or basic electronics from 16 to now. Just added stuff like the adaptive cruise. Follow the “kink’s” in the 3rd gen forums. They’re fixed by TSBs, but toyota continues to have to do the same things via TSB year after year.

I’ve owned all gens of Toyota pickups from 85 to now. My 16 is great (with the SSP and a couple of TSB’s) I wish my wife drove manual and I didn’t live in ATL...and the only thing different would be this truck with a stick.

My wife has wanted a Tacoma for as long as I can remember, we’ve been together since HS (1989). I’m a F250/350 guy and cringed at the thought of a Tacoma in the driveway. But her 4Runner was racking up the miles and it was time to trade. I took her to the Toyota dealership and we looked at the top of the line 2018 Tacoma 4x4.

She opened the door and literally laughed at the interior and said, I’m looking for way less bells and whistles and more of a truck. Fellow took her to a stock 2015 and she said, I’ll take it. Salesman asked her why the 15 over the 18 and she said, it’s simple and looks like a truck to me. My girl...

That’s all I have because I never did any research on Tacoma’s prior to her trading/buying one. But now after the fact I actually love this little truck and she is estatic with it.

PS- she said she didn’t like the skinny looking headlights on the 18’. Hell I honestly didn’t notice until after she bought it. It’s crazy as to how many of these trucks are out there!

$27,500 with 18k on it. It’s the base 4x4 double cab, one owner and mint. We’ve added the intermittent wipers, tow package and a fresh Mobil 1 syn oil change. Her wish list is a 3” lift and sidesteps. Those will be done after taxes.

It ain't free my friend. We are literally taxed to death for it. :(
Plus our federal government is always coming up with more ways to take even more of our money from us.
