I’m so darn excited. I have a hookup through a friend, so I’ll pick some up in about a week.

I'm looking for a Lincoln rep to chime in with a cool sticker hookup. I've got a bag of stickers from my shop ordering parts that will go on soon.

I have a question for all the gurus.

Been working on my front bumper made of 3/16” plate. I have some 3/4” clevis mounts that I’ll be welding in and would like some input to get reliable welds.

Ive read about pre heating, beveling, and taking multiple passes to get a proper weld. Are there any other considerations to take into account?

    I have a Lincoln 180 w C25 gas and .035 wire.

I really don't like surface welding big chunks of iron to thinner iron. Like you, I worry about pennetration and burn thru if too much heat is used.

Is there a possibility you can cut out the shape of the clevice anchors and push them thru the sheet steel? You would only need a 1/4". You can weld both sides and I gaurantee the anchors will not pop off with a violent yank. The bumper will deform before the clevice and anchors become a projectile.

    Thanks for chiming in.

The clevis does go through the bumper. The clevis’ are from Barnes 4WD.

If you can try to position them so it hits the frame tie-in point (or anything else). Kind of like this sort of setup. Will give a bit more support to keep the plate from deflecting.

Yes, I have this clevis to mount. I will weld the front and back. I was planning to bevel the clevis where I would be welding.

I am adding a brace inside the bumper like the one pictured above. It’s not exactly on a frame mount, but will be on the sturdy winch plate.

It's a shackle not a clevis. I'm sorry I had to do it

I hope you don't use that particular one. That part of the world is not know for the strongest, most reliable shackles...

Haha nope. Just a google image. It’s funny, I put the picture in my post and I said to myself, I should change the picture, I know someone is gonna comment on this garbage CHINA shackle. I am a “Grip” in the movie industry. We do lots of rigging and use all good stuff. Usually CM or Chicago shackles
