For anyone who was dying to find out... I got them adjusted. I didn’t want to do it in the rain and I didn’t want to wait because I’m impatient so I went to DIYG. 32 bucks for an hour is ridiculous. That’s with a military discount too. But, it’s adjsted and now I’ll have the wheels/tires and an alignment done early this week. Hopefully I won’t have a bunch of rubbing to get sorted out. 285/70r17’s. 4.5” backspacing, 0 offset wheels. We shall see. Thanks for the help guys.

I say we keep the plans as is until they are more sure how it looks. Still too early for them to guess.

What about Pungo Offroad? Not sure if they could do this or not, and my interaction with them is / was very limited back when I had a Jeep.

I remember when I used to live in Norfolk that pungo had a really sketchy rep of swapping your parts for garbage ones if they could get away with it. Probably not the case here as you would know right away, but they also had stuff break back in the day that they would not warranty from old friends of mine. Hopefully their crew has changed for the better, but I never wanted to go there cause of these reasons although they were more modest in price compared to almost all the competition at the time.

Not recommended except for mall crawlers. "Off-Road" around here generally refers to mud puddles and mall lots.

Let me tell you how I flushed away $350:

I'm speaking from experience; I had a wheeling trip I wanted to make and had to fly to San Diego for work so figured I would drop off the truck at a local shop. I gave specific instructions:

    1) Use the fork lift (they had one) to flex the suspension and make sure the shock mounting points allow for maximum travel and add bump stops as needed.

    2) Make sure the shocks don’t overextend or bottom out at max flex!

I wish I still had the pictures of the abortion they performed on my truck. I had about 1.5" of up travel left in my shocks. They said "your springs are not designed to 'flex' they are just lift springs" so they didnt even bother. I had to drive off like that and go straight to the wheeling meet otherwise I would have had them do it again. To make matters worse, the shocks bodies were bouncing on my e-brake cable, causing my truck to lurch everytime I hit a bump as the e-brake cable was being slammed by the shocks. I had to wheel without rear shocks...

I went back after the trip to get it fixed, again giving the same specific guidance: FLEX THE REAR SUSPENSION AND MEASURE SHOCK TRAVEL. Shit.

They f-ed up again but this time, they did exactly the opposite, mounting the shocks as high as possible, leaving no down travel. To make matters worse (de-ja-vu?), the cross bar was pushed up beyond the frame of the truck and only the bottom half of the crossbar was welded. The shocks more than likely overextended (they both blew and started leaking bad) and that probably caused the welds to break on the cross bar so I went back a third time.

Third time I forced the guy to flex the suspension and was present the entire time. I had to teach their "lift expert" how to locate and mark the ideal frame mount location to support the shock's length and travel.

The cherry on the top of the shit-sundae was they tried to make me pay for my third visit and said it was my fault the welds failed because it was "my design".

I'm not saying don't go to a shop, I'm saying don't expect quality work.

If you are experienced enough to know what you are doing, and have the time, you can point and say "weld this here" but at that point, hiring a local welder would be cheaper.

Yea man that's exactly the shit I'm talking about, they also had too much pride with my friends to where they weren't willing to even see what they did wrong with their installs. I feel unless you go to eastern or someplace like them, then maybe it might be done right. I know eastern has a dedicated thought process with things and did a decent job to one of my buddies installs. I would consider a shop further up north or one of our skilled members over a shop in the Hampton roads area. For the most part, they just don't know enough of what to look for like your experience clearly shows. Glad to see you were able to rectify it anyway.
