There are a number of dealers taking the state to task for their error in legal language. It's glorious. Screw these shit initiatives.

That's the on going problem. There are so many holes the slack jawed yokul can't utilize in regards to firearms, the layperson can comprehend the puzzle of what's illegal or legal that they start to encorporate feelings over fact and can't tell the difference between the two when it's clearly presented..

I'm pretty sure that wasn't english. Bumblebeetuna

    Wtf did I just say.

I don’t like the rooftop led bar much for my new taco. Wanting to go for the rigid/gravity kc look. I’m thinking 8 circular leds above the windshield for an aggressive look. (Found these for $20 for a pair.) Don’t make fun of me, I just don’t want to spend thousands on lights.. what’s your thought on buying 8 “running lights” and lining them up to give it a similar look?
I’ve been looking ALLLLL night and can’t find a thing ( guessing because most people would say to get the real deal.) But come on, my hubby won’t let me spend that on lights. He’s more of a tune for power type.

I was once told it's not stupid if it works. But I've also been told 3's a crowd. There's a fine line there somewhere.

For cosmetic what do you think? I’m not taking my Tacoma out until I get lifted and new wheels so the lighting won’t bother me. Plus you boys never let me be the leader, everything’s already lit hah

In my opinion, if you’re going to spend $160 on the Autozone specials, look for some used LED pods or even some KC’s or Hellas.

While it’s not the aesthetic you’re going for, you will get high quality light and hardware that won’t crap out on you when you need it.

Also you can wait until someone on here is getting rid of a light bar and get a better deal.

Edit: Sorry I didn’t quite understand your intentions, that’s a lot of used lights to buy. My opinion still stands though, those $20 will probably not last long and you will end up replacing them.

I like the looks of the 8 lights across the top. Everybody is running a light bar these days. I think most of the Baja Trophy Trucks are still running individual lights and not bars across the top.

You could also change the light types in this setup (spots in the center, floods on the edges, differerent colors, etc.) I would NOT recommend red and blue wig-wags though.....:anonymous:

The challenge is balancing the budget vs. quality/longevity of the lights. I'm a Vision X fan myself, but dropping 8 Vision X Light Cannons up there is going to run north of $2,200.... OUCH!!!

    :spending:

But, they do have a more value-priced line, the VL series. MSRP on the 4.3" Round light is $59 (with connector). Still quite a bit more expensive than the Auto Zone kit however when all is said and done, and would require more work to install as it isn't a specific "kit" with a mounting bar, etc.

Alrighty y’all, I didn’t think this was worth its own thread anywhere and I’m still having a bit of trouble using the search feature.

I’m in the process of buying my recovery kit and I’m hoping to be down around Mt Hood next weekend for some snowshoe action. I need a shovel, but as I have a sleeping platform in the bed I don’t wanna carry a full size shovel so I’m looking at D loop shovels. Then I got to thinking, I could dig two holes with one shovel and just head to Rei and pick up one of those back country avalanche shovels you’re supposed to have anyways. At $50 they’re not much more than a D loop shovel from Amazon. Would this hold up as my in truck shovel? I don’t do any off roading except when required to get to a hike or photography location but I’d like to get into it some.

For snow yes it will work just fine. Thats what the are designed for :) If you have to try to actually dig in anything hard/solid then it wont work as well as a Spade type shovel. You can pick up a like half length spade shovel that will work too.

By hard/solid Im talking like dirt and rocks. For compact snow they work just fine

Probably would only work good in the snow since they are aluminum. I have the MSR operator shovel for snowshoeing and show camping, but I always keep a steel shovel in the truck. A small d handle shovel would be a good addition.

That and it violates the intent of the state constitution if not the wording.

I go with the longest shovel that I can strap on the inside ceiling of my canopy. Short shovels suck, and you're less likely to reach for q tool that sucks. For digging out under the truck I prefer a hoe. Snow just slides off the shovel whereas a hoe will let you drag stuff out.

Hah. We spent a LOT of time yesterday shoveling among other recovery efforts in the snow, and we were using a short shovel. Both of those statements are quite accurate now that I've experienced it first hand.

Well, I could probably slide a typical shovel under my sleeping platform in the back. I would think even a short handle avalanche shovel would be easier than a long handle typical digging shovel though. With the totes of gear under the platform there wouldn't be room for a full size snow shovel on this trip plus I have a set of traction boards coming in. Maybe Ill get my truck on the lift at work tmw and see about frame mounting some recovery gear. I appreciate the first hand knowledge from everyone who has replied.

By frame mount do you mean under your truck? I would not recommend that. I have a platform in my 1st gen that my wife and I used for years of travel. I swapped out a couple of the canopy's roof rack track bolts with some longer ones and used them to mount quick fists against the ceiling. It took a little overhead clearance away but it was liveable. I mounted the shovel and hoe by passing them through the windoors. When we stopped traveling with that truck I reinstalled the ceiling gun box and mounted the shovel and hoe to that.
