Has anyone found a good solution for towing mirrors for our 1st gen trucks? Although the flip-up style looks pretty awesome, nothing like that seems to exist for the 1st gens (and I'd prefer not to pay $300 in any case). I'd prefer a slip-on style, but again I can't find any that are verified to be compatible with the 1st gens. And yes, I'm aware that I could go crazy and install Dodge Ram mirrors, but I'm not sure it's worth the effort; I'm just hauling our Scout Troop trailer once every month or two—but I'd like to be able to see behind me when I do. Am I stuck with using something really, really ugly?

If you're ambitious enough, I've seen people install Dodge RAM mirrors.

The 2001-2004 mirrors are a good bolt-on upgrade.

It’s a universal fit mirror, they work on just about any mirror.

But yes, they do fit on 1st gen tacoma mirrors.

I actually had those exact mirrors before I got the ones I linked to earlier. They look nice, but the mirrors are small, and the way they attach to the mirror sucks. It’s not very secure, as they kept sliding down. The 3 rubber feet also broke relatively easily. Also, the way you had to disengage the tensioner was a PITA. I had to get a screw driver to pop the knob out to loosen the strap.

The 4Runner Mirrors have heating elements in them, I plan on swapping the mirror glass into a Hilux Surf/Land Cruiser Prado housing housing so I’ll also have the integrated turn signals and courtesy lights.
