What's everyone doing about CV axles? Broke both fronts on some bunny trail at Windrock this weekend. Limped it home on zip ties ha

Sounds like upgrading will just result in broken diffs rather than cv axles. Lifetime warranties it is for now

Get OEM remans from a dealer. They'll have to order them. I've been paying like $200ish.

You can get rebuilt CVs from Toyota now $140.00 each. There is a big difference in Autozone and OEM.
You will need to take your broke ones to them or they charge a $75.00 core charge.

Yeah Molly knows like 4 people who have been in accidents since we moved here in August. Crazy.

I like to think I'm a pretty defensive driver, but being blinded by the setting sun fucked both of us up. Sucks.

TRD Off Road sticker. Not the whole package, just the sticker.
I broke 3, 2 within a week of swapping my truck to 4wd. Those first 2 were also in the woods behind my parents and not a hard trail in any way. After I broke the 3rd, bought oem and kept the autozone ones as a back up. Year and a half later and I still haven't broken one with much crazier wheeling.

I also learned not to give it gas when your at full lock and one wheel is in the air. That puts the CV at an extreme angle it puts a lot of force on the cage. When the wheel hits the ground spinning it will snap the cv.

I really wish someone sold a cv axle rebuild kit for for the 1st gens. That would be a lot cheaper than have to buy a new one from the dealer for the day I do break an oem one.

OEMs and pick better lines or use your winch more. I broke 1 in 8yrs and it was the factory CV. I left the front open, I winched more than flooring it and put a 12:1 low range in the truck.

I get them from a dealer in Center Point Alabama. They all have different prices you need to call around but you should be able to find them. I just called them and they said for my truck $115 and $50 refundable core.
They have a 12 month warranty, they are replacing the one I broke last month
