Bull Bar Mounting Nuts... Stripped

Like the title says... I took off my Bull Bar today to put a full brush Guard on and the nuts on the inside of the frame are stripped completely... I can put the bolt all the way in and it falls right out... anyone else have this happen... It looks like my only option at this point is an ARB style front bumper.

 

That's a good idea, but sounds labor intensive and difficult... and if I find a solution then I don't have an excuse to buy an ARB. It's just kinda irritating, I spent a long time sanding and priming and painting the Brush Guard... I guess I'll just sell the Brush Guard and Bull Bar.

 

sounds like a good reason to ditch the brush gaurd to me

 

Tap and die! It's easy but I can't argue with "needing" new toys.

 

I'll look into it, But I'm moving to the other side of the world... And I'm considering selling the truck and buying a newer Taco... My wife already gave me the OK...

 

Really easy. Just go down to your local hardware store, find the size of bolt you plan on replacing with and pick up a single tap for that same bolt size and thread.

You can get a whole tap and die set if you really want, but you can also just buy the single piece you need. A kit can be from $30 to hundreds, but you can also just get a single tap for under $5. There's a special handle you can use, but before I got my set, I'd just use a wrench.

Another possible option if you can get to the open end of the bolt is to just toss on a lock washer and nut on the bolt. No real reason to use a threaded bracket if you have access to the end of the bolt.
