Damn I did this same thing two weekends ago, but I had the stock tires. It wasn't quite as bad as this either, but luckily I remembered I had a burley set of chains in the bed, along with a shovel, and I did have sandbags till I put a canopy on it. From now on I'm just planning that I will do stupid shit and have some kit in the bed at all times to unfuckulate myself.

Are you the private road police??
I would assume that any road not marked private or gated and is on a map to be open to the public. If the owner does not want to mark the road I would also assume they are ok with people using it.

    And there lies the problem.
MOST private roads are NOT specially marked as private roads. You in fact cannot legally mark a road except where it is *actually* on your private *property*. Most private roads first cross public land (still AS a private road), and then cross private property.
And no, I am not the police. I am a property owner who happens to have access via PRIVATE ROAD.

Oh I get it, you're a jerkoff. It's a fun video with nice scenery involving a subject this site is entirely based on . The fact you believe that I'm bragging or that I'm somehow breaking a law is not my problem. I'm glad your in Alaska .Ejnjoy your crv that defies the laws of physics. Fuck off .

Spending some time exploring in the PNW I felt like I went down a handful of trails that were seemingly private, but never marked. Any time I see something designated as no trespassing or private, I steer clear.

There was a forest service road I mapped out with a nice lake at the end of a 10 mile drive. Well it turns out the last 3 miles of the trail just tapered down gradually with blackberry thickets. For a solid mile I was lightly pinstriping the truck, and then it kept getting tighter to the point where I had to climb out the rear window, over the roof, and down the hood to scout up ahead. Ended up having to reverse out the entire way, adding more pinstripes. I’ve learned it’s beneficial to get out of the truck and assess from time to time. I also learned it’s possible to harvest berries without getting out of the cab.

Well then I feel for you but you can’t expect the public to somehow know the road is private if it’s not marked or gated.
This is not the case in Georgia private roads are marked.

Had a front wheel drive Ford Tempo that I didn't care about and when I couldn't back out of places in the snow I would just back it into a snow bank, turn the wheels, and gun it...front end would just swing right around.

That's why you always bring someone along with you... so when you get stuck and stranded you can eat them :hungry:

I'd be shitting at the 1st sign of wheel hop...in those conditions. Too bad you couldn't back out at the 1st right you made. KO2's are pretty good in snow, but they have their limits (I have them). I was just bombing around last night in the hills with the same conditions. I got nervous and backed out when the truck started hopping violently.

My backup distance record is only a mile and a half. The odometers on our trucks work in reverse I've confirmed. Back up in low range for easier control and no excessive clutch slipping.

Depends where you are.. here if the “private” road leads to BLM land or another property, it becomes an easement and is there for public use (BLM) or other owners access (other properties).

Good lesson learned OP! Really should’ve turned around but understand why you didn’t.

Like many others, here we don’t go places like that alone. Too many bad things can happen when you get stuck and don’t come across anyone else.

“Groomed” roads are only to get to your winter property or to the backcountry. If I take a sled down my road in the winter, I certainly wouldn’t call it snowmobiling.
