There’s a tipping point where convenience and cost intersect and can influence behavior. What if gas cost $20/gallon and a charge took an hour?

But diesel is ~40% more expensive then gas, so apple to apples you are getting 36 mpg on the VW :boink:

If gas was 20 bucks a gallon then just maybe I would shy away from fossil fuels, but the way fuel sits now compared to electric charge times, fuck that shit. If I had to drive from Denver to Houston it would take me days. A fuel stop in a vehicle takes 5 min, 10 min if I need to use the head or get a drink.

Totally agree. I do think an EV would be great for a daily driver/commuter, but you still need access to a vehicle for longer trips.

I dont think I could drive an electric car, mainly because people that drive electric , well I dont want to be associated with them.

My 13 4.0 4x4 with a mild lift and KO2's gets a combined 15.4mpg... which is almost double the 8mpg I get in my El Camino, so I'll take that as a win!

Plus you have to be a hippie to buy an electric car, plus I hate Elon musk with every fiber of my being.

Here are the pics of when I drove it home from NorCal. It's an all stock '66 with a 283ci V8 and a Powerglide. We rebuilt the carb (2barrel Rochester), and haven't done a thing since. That was 5 years ago ish? It's my Dad and I's project but neither of us have the money to do it proper so it just gets driven every so often to keep it moving.

I should probably mention that my truck is the 6 speed. And from what I can tell they get worse mileage than the autos.

    Too few to list.
'15 4x4 DC auto with 2" lift and 265/75R16's. Currently with winter blend gas I am getting 17.5-18 mpg 50/50 driving. I keep my speed to about 70ish on the hwy.

Also 20$ a gallon gas would INSTANTLY crash the economy. It would be riot city...haha.

    28 mpg
V6, double cab prerunner, 3" lift in the front, 4"+ in the rear, with a 120 lbs steel plate bumper.

No one could afford that, FedEx would be screwed, businesses would loose employees who couldn't drive to work, it would be made chaos trickling down. Instant ruined economy, that would pretty much be the definite beginnings of a war or something.

Having a job would make zero difference...
