Keep in mind that when we installed the 1.05 M/T FO, winter gas was just coming in....

I have a question for anyone with the 1.05 AT tune.
My biggest gripe with this truck is the lack of low end power ascending hills(highway speeds) in 4th gear especially in higher altitudes above 6000ft. Has this tune helped with low range power at speed? It’s terrible when it kicks down to 3rd and screams up the hill.

    Thanks

    Also, anyone tuned in Sacramento?

Depending on the hill, you can usually climb it in 4th with the tune......bigger hills you may still see 3rd. You definitely get more acceleration in 4,5, or 6th with the 1.05.

NOT HIGH AT ALL, i am just anal, sorry i started all this, was just curious if others noticed a difference between 1.05 87 and 91 with the 1-2 shift. Appears there is slight difference, on 1.05 91 mine shifts at about 1700 (no load, nearly zero foot on the accelerator, on a flat street). 1.05 87, same conditions, it seemed to shift at 2200 - 2500 maybe? Sorry i failed to write it down. This is all preference only, I would advise everyone to try both, it is purely a matter of how you like to drive, yeah!

I find it takes a significant press of the throttle to get the truck to change down to 4th now, sometimes it then decides 3rd is required which is a bit over zealous

1.05 is the best tune yet. It will hold 5th on mild hills and 6th if on a flat terrain. I live at 3500 feet with the 87 tune.

He did this to remove the clunk from the transmission. It can be changed once ovtune releases custom tunes.

Negative, this is to keep it in 5th/6th on highway. 1-2 shift is for the clunk

Oh my b. Anyway, on another note, I think it's safe to say 1.05 adds 1 mpg.

Stock off road 4×4 with 265/70/16...I ran 1.05 91 with 93 in the tank for a few thousand miles.I switched to 1.05 87 with 93 in the tank for 200 miles now.I'm in Texas along the coast so close to sea level.1.05 87 shifts in town great with light pedal and seems to respond better to pedal input on my truck.87 tune on the hwy holds 6th on flat area's and overpasses, drops to 5th or lower as it should on large bridges.Power from 91 tune to 87 tune on my stock truck seems about the same. The 87 tune seems to work the best for me.Mat has done an awesome job with the 1.05 tune,Thanks .

That you guys can recall based on Mats comments, will allowing 3rd gear (while under load) to rev up a bit higher (more similar to the way 1st shifts to 2nd and 2nd shifts to 3rd) cause undesirable characteristics?

I love 105 91 except the way it goes into 4th. Even if I’m still accelerating, it shifts out of 3rd (what seems too early) and leaves me in 4th at around 1500 rpm. It’ll still accelerate, but seems to lug. I’m fine with going into a higher gear under little or no load, but don’t like it when I’m still trying to accelerate.

I sure wish Toyota offered a MT on the double cab long bed

A short bed is useless on a pickup truck. Especially on a midsize since the bed is already small

I beg to differ. It’s plenty useful. With bed extenders and racks, there not much I wouldn’t be able to haul. Granted I’m not a construction company....but for a typical homeowner the short bed is perfect.
