I live in a rural area where the sheriffs dept is 30min away at best, and I have a neighbour who is maybe 3 stones throw away from my house and we share a county dirt road as our driveway and his house is first. This dude is very hostile ,crazy and dangerous and screams profanities every chance he gets since we have to pass his house its often. This man cant be reasoned with and has scared many people to the point where im nervous to bring people over, shit hes the reason why my wife and I got our concealed carry permits. This isn't a cry for help, I just would like to hear other peoples stories of crazy ass neighbours and how they delt with them.

Thanks for the first half of the story. When do we hear the rest of it? Seriously, you have a neighbor who yells at you at every passing and you bought guns because of him. If that isn’t half a story I don’t know what is.

I could go on for days, but ill tell this one story for tonight, I have nicknamed him dickhead so for consistencys sake thats his name. Dickhead was doing his usual bullshit and he was blocking this shared road for no other reason but to be a dickhead making other people who share the road late for work also. My wifes grandfather whom is a bad ass 80 year man gets out of his to confront dickhead and make him move his ass out of the road, in which he refused started scream and yelling and insulting grandpa which he takes shit from no and preceded to knock his ass out cold and so now granpa has a restraing order against him.

You should take a drive into town and have a talk with this Sheriff. He needs to put his coffee down and get involved. These types of situations can escalate quickly.

If dickhead blocks the road preventing you from leaving, call 911. Tell them that he is physically preventing you from leaving and that you feel threatened. Have him arrested for unlawful detention and explain in your statement that it has happened before. Maybe the DA will have eaten a good breakfast and stick him with kidnapping.

Sometimes my neighbor parks on the street in front of my house and gets a little too close to my driveway. Shit gets real in suburbia.

I was living at our farmhouse while I was remodeling it. We have a duplex next door with renters in each unit. Folks on the left seem decent, help out with chores/yard work etc. Things start getting a little odd...find the dude hiding in the bushes or the barn with piles of beer cans, he’s up quick and on his way out...thought I was his girlfriend coming to beat him up. I chalk it up to drinking problem/family stuff. They also have a beat white limo they seem to be using as a daily driver, strange vehicle for folks who are decent carpenters. What evs...
So I come home from paddling one day and every major news station has their trucks in the road in front of my house. Reporters all charge me, microphones in my face, we’ve all seen it on tv. Turns out they were tied up in some drug dealing, off to jail they go! Except for the dude, I figured he split before this went down.
Fast forward a month or two, I come home from work to the same news truck scene. While in jail, the chick tells police where (in the next county) they can find the dudes body. Apparently she and her pals got super high, tied him to a tree, went to a bar and forgot all about him.
Lessons: Yes, people can be crazy ass wacked-out.
I am waaaay more carful selecting tenants now.

Not as crazy, but when I bought my house from my in-laws my brother in law had been working on a vintage Corvette for a neighbor up the street. After a year or so I got tired of looking at it and he hadn't been paying my brother in law to work on it, so it was just taking up space.

Just happened a couple of weeks later the neighbor pulls up looking for my bro in law, giving attitude and telling me what needs to be done. I kept on telling him I bought the house and need the car removed. He didn't seem to want to hear it..turns out he's very powerful in my town and has that attitude.

I call him a few weeks later asking for an update. He keeps on the "bro in law needs to do this, that, the other thing". I finally said "I don't care what you and he do. It's my house. I asked it to be done in 4 weeks and that was 6 weeks ago, and you can't even call me to keep in touch. I want it out this week." He insisted he had no room for it at his house..not my issue anyway, but I said "with a 3 car garage I'm sure you can find some room". He finally agreed to get it towed that weekend. I stayed home all weekend, nothing.

SO I send him a certified letter that Monday laying out the history and telling him if it's not out in 3 days:

    1. $40 a day storage
    2. I'll call my homeowners and advise if something happens, they're not responsible for the car.
    3. I'll call my lawyer about getting title transferred to my name.

He showed up 2 days later at my brother in law's work with the letter all upset and my bro in law just laughed and said "how many times does he have to tell you to move the car, of course he's tired of you ignoring him". He was terrified to come to my house but my brother in law had a spare key and took him over to move it.

That's 13 years ago. The neighbor still doesn't have the balls to speak to me. I bumped into him a few years ago and said "how's the Vette, it's good convertible weather out today!"

You state "he's crazy, hostile, dangerous, screams profanities, and scares everybody". This guy is beyond being a dickhead. He sounds like he has some form of mental illness. All the more reason to get the authorities involved. He needs help asap before somebody gets hurt.

Im going to get one for the taco and the wifes car soon. And the sheriffs have been called several times for over the years, and it always leads to restraining orders and everything is fine for awhile and its not just me its our other neighbours as well sometimes dickhead will target them for awhile and leave everyone else alone and no one really heres anything, unless you ask. For the most part he stays on the very edge of his property and yells his bs, this way the police dont really do anything. And heres another tid bit its his father's property and hes only there because when he was released from prison for possession of meth his father brought dickhead home and its been a shit show ever since.

I had an old man for a neighbor in an apartment I once lived in, he threatened to kill me because he said I climbed the stairs too loudly.

This drives me crazy, happens to us at our house too. I constantly find shit in the yard (we don't have a dog). I now have to make it a point to keep an eye out for people walking their dogs past the house to make sure they pick up it's crap like they're supposed to. Haven't caught the perpetrator(s) yet though. My plan is to ask them nicely to pick it up, if they don't then I'll get photo/video of them and make sure the neighborhood social media groups know who the crappy neighbors are.

Aside from asking them nicely first, it's the only non-aggressive approach I can think of that won't get me thrown in jail.
