    Hey all,

So this past weekend I washed/dried my truck, and then went after the gooey berry/sap spots with bug & tar remover and a microfiber.. I was able to get the vast majority of it off, but some small spots would NOT come off, no matter how long i let that remover sit there (turtle wax B&T remover that is safe for paint). There were still some very small spots that i couldnt even feel with my fingernail, but they looked like small pieces of tree-berry skin (I dunno what kind of tree is over my driveway, but it has these horrible little sap-filled berries that love to fall and burst all over the place). Now, the clay didnt take that off either, so after claying I hit it again with the B&T remover to noavail, so I went ahead and used Meguiars NXT to put a polish on.. anyone have any recommendations for what I can do to remove that kind of baked-on debris?

    thanks!

    Dennis

Sounds like the sap etched itself into the clear. Happens with sap, bird crap etc. Basically the acid kinda eats away at the clear and leaves a stain so to speak. You will need to get some polish and polish it out. Try some ScratchX2.0 and a micro-fiber towel and see what that gets you. If it doesn't come out, you will need something more aggressive.

Jesus the truck is only a few weeks old..i guess tree sap plus 100 degree days = baked in goodness. Since I just waxed it would I use the scratchx then reapply the wac over where I polished?i have meguiars ultimate compound too

Prepsol Solvent. You can get it where they sell professional automotive paint. Be sure to put a coat of wax on after using it. This was the only thing that worked getting bird shit stains off the hood of my Firebird many years ago.

sure it's not acid rain, thats just like sulphuric acid. Leaves those little spots. Also if you live around a power plant or factory that burns coal sometimes they use coal with a lot of sulphur in it and that stuff will burn right though the paint.
