Last year around this time I purchased a bottle for $53. Now the same store sells it for $99.
It is very good but not worth the $99

I haven't shopped it in a while, but Japanese Harmony is $100 now? That's a damn shame. It is very good, but at a hundo, it likely won't get replaced on my shelf.

@dumontrider , it may not be a regular for you at $100, but if you haven't had it, I can get behind paying the premium for the first bottle. The physical bottle itself is really nice, too, for whatever that is worth. One of the very few corked Japanese whiskies.

(Anyone else noticed that many of them have screw tops?)

Google search "liquor stores Roseville, ca". I'm not in Roseville but it's close enough for a drive. Your results will have something like Top 10 Liquor Stores in Roseville. There are two that have Bourbon in the title. That's how I found them. I only went to one (on Douglas), I'll try the other another time.

The chains sell it for aroung $58, when they have it. Independent stores sell it for more. I guessed around a hundred in my comments above based off the $58 plus the $40 in fees/shipping he mentioned.

The liquor store I visited yesterday had all 3 Weller bourbons to make poor mans pappy, however they were so marked up a poor man couldn't afford them! Something like $99 for the Special Reserve (which lists for about $20 at Total Wine). The other 2 were well over a hundred. Supply and Demand I guess...

Yep. 60% OWA 107 and 40% Weller 12. Blend in a bottle and let it mingle for a couple of weeks.

I have about 3/4ths of a bottle of Poor Man's at home after emptying the rest of my OWA in to it (and enough W12 to keep the ratio). We did a blind tasting with some of the whiskey guys a while back and it was nearly unanimous that the PMP was better than either of its component parts and I agree.

It'll be my 2nd bottle. It was an impulse buy, I'm OK overpaying by a bit to enjoy it 1 more time. Certainly better than the $200+ I've seen it selling for since they ceased production. Strongly agree on it being a beautiful bottle. I plan to keep this one (assuming it actually arrives, part of me fears this company taking money BEFORE knowing availability)

The Harmony is out of production? As far as I've known, only the age stated stuff has seen an appreciable drop in production and/or discontinuation.

You can get the regular Japanese Harmony on secondary for $100 shipped right now. The Limited Edition bottle designs do go for closer to $200. Not sure what the Blender's Choice is trading at.

As @bvbull200 mentioned the No Age Statement Harmony is still in production, high demand makes it hard to get. They stopped production of the 12 and 17 year age statements because they were running out of it. I remember reading an article about it somewhere.

Made a pit stop on my way to Lebanon, TN today. Swung in for a tour and tasting at Buffalo Trace! This is one of my favorite bourbons but is nearly impossible to find in central Ohio where I’m from. Needless to say I was in heaven walking around the storage warehouse that was built in 1885. Was able to pick up a bottle of Buffalo Trace while there since that’s basically all they sell at the facility liquor wise anyway. I highly recommend anyone driving though the area to stop in and spend the hour doing the tour. Beautiful area with great history and outstanding bourbon. Got to see them hand bottling Blantons as well!

Edit: As a side note to anyone interested they just bought three hundred acres beside them and within the next two years they will be doubling production!! Hopefully that will ease up the shortages in Ohio.

I've never dabbled in Rye, but just watched a video where they say it often tastes like black licorice. I love black licorice. Anyone know of a Rye to go to for that flavor?

I enjoy Rye whiskey's, but never once have I thought it tasted like black licorice lol. Maybe more like a cinnamon?

There may be some Rye's out there, but I would think Jager would be more the black licorice taste
