Very true, I definitely need to practice somehow so I don't lose what I have learned.

But yea, if I take the time to get trained enough to be an educator... definitely not going to give that away for free...

haha. I love how my family thinks i can fix their computer because i work in IT... I tell them i dont know shit all the time. I mean i could probably fix it but i do that shit all day as a job.... nah fam. I have built a computer for one of them but thats about it.

Recently my nephew got a new laptop for high school graduation.. he plans to use it in college. I immediately installed no script, https everywhere, and adblocker on his browser. It wont stop an infection but it will help prevent them.... universities could care less about the student wifi in the dorms.

 

Yea, I will give simple advice and that is about it honestly. When friends come to me or ask me, I tell them I will give them a friend discount, but it is still a job and time out of my day to fix an issue of yours, if it is something simple, then no charge or just get me lunch or something. Anything else, cash only.

 

I do it for free. I dont know what im doing so its a high risk operation, as long as they accept the risk, ill try and fix it.
