so I never really realized it before this, but I just replaced the bulb on my dome light to be an LED, and I noticed that when I turned it to door, it would not turn on even if one of the doors was open, or even if both the doors were. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this, if not, is their any way I can wire some small lights into my headliner so that when I open my door some light actually goes on?

Did everything work properly with the OE light?

    Yes?

Put the OE light back in.

    No?

Gotta find and fix the root cause before proceeding.

Nah that’s why I replaced it because it was super dim, I went from the normal mini halogen to a new halogen then to an led, none of the times did the door lights work.

Most likely switches in both doors are just rusted and not connecting anymore. Hardly anything else can go wrong with 1997 door circuit (no fancy delay and dimming on door closing performed by Body ECU).
