Does your truck pull any direction or go straight? Does it make any noise associated with the bushings? If it goes straight and doesn't make any noise, don't worry about it.

More so truck wandering a bit. Know about the intermediate shaft, doesn't look loose to me. Tracks straight, noises, yeah, lots of them... going to strap a GoPro under there and hopefully see what's going on.

Check the rack and pinion bushings too, also a quick visual on the outer tie rod ends. You'll need to remove the front skid plate to get a good look at the R&P.

Outer tie rods looked good yesterday, have not looked at the rack... My luck probably needs those as well.. a chance to fix a stripped skid bolt as well.... The fun never ends!!!

Before taking apart the LCA's, check that your hardware is not frozen with rust. With truck on level ground, each cam bolt should slide out (use a rubber mallet to tap out). The front facing bolts are the ones that usually freeze first. To me, that wear in your first post can be normal unless the crack goes all the way through. The harshness you describe is a symptom of deteriorating bushings. A sign of significant wear will be uneven tire wear and clicking noises when turning sharply and/or driving over sharp uneven terrain. Polyurethane bushings have their disadvantages; they tend to squeak in the long run and may exhibit a harsher drive than rubber mounts; they are also pricier. Take a look at Mevotech bushings. They use a rubber-polyurethane blend and are not pricey.

Yeah, will check on that before getting everything apart. The polys are sounding more like a headache and not worth my time. From the look of things, they just seem very hardened, and something is just not right. The movetech looks like a good option. Just have been chasing a zebra, but can't stand how the truck feels.... Hard to get a handle on what is going on, and I feel over my head. Problem being places I have taken it to have missed other major things. Had a near seized and rusted uniball on my uppers. Other numerous issues with places that have destroyed my trust in taking it anywhere, and have incurred signifficant cost to me... I'm at a loss at the moment...

The bushings just take time and are worth every second of "trouble" if you plan on running your truck into the high mile world. The only challange is getting the old bushing out...after that the new poly or blend bushing going in is a much easier process which has to be done regradless what you replace the old bushing with. If you're not confortable, most shops should be willing to press them out and in for a small fee. Doing this work NOW will save you from being in the exact same position again sooner than later.

Its easy to feel like things are over your head but really its not all bad, trust me. PM me if you like and I'll get you my phone number, maybe I can walk you through some of it.

Same set I run in my truck, rebuilding a spare set of LCA's right now with another set of them as well. I originally used Pro-Forged LCA Ball joints which were supposed to be heavy duty, but their boots suck so I'm switching to the MOOG internal boot design. Press in as well, although the Pro-Forged boots were 100x harder than hell to press in...

I took a recip-saw to my stock LCA hardware to get them out, everything was seized. Swapped in all OEM hardware lubed up with Prothane Supergrease. Adjusts mint still after 2 salty winters and over 40k miles.

Yeah I'm hoping things aren't seized, haven't had time to check, hopefully in the next couple days, but the more I look, things seem suspect. I think my truck lived by the beach quite a bit in la. Well, have parts on order, will update when I get things in and ready to go!!! Thanks a lot for the information guys!!!

If the bolts and cams are seized and won't come off. These blades are ridiculous for cutting through them.

I'm by no means an expert but it sure looks to me that they are a little loose. Interested in hearing what you figure out.
