my boss took his Nitto Terra Grappler G2s off his Jeep and told me I can have them. they are LT285/65/18 and I am currently running 265/70/17 of the same tire. his tires literally look brand new so I know they will last a while. I know I would need 18" wheels obviously but wondering if they would even work on a stock Sport? if not, how much lift would I need? I would prefer to not do a CMC if at all possible.

how much do you think it would take to clear them? our local 4wd shop says I should go with 3/2 spacer kit. I don't really want to do spacers though. I also didn't want to go 3" in the front.

It will take 3” lift and potentially cab mount chop, hammering pinch weld, etc. easily researched here to know the possibilities and to understand in the end it will depend on: do you wheel? What wheel tire package you choose? Etc.

Honestly, what do you want with these big wheels? What are you going to do with the big tires? I wouldn't bother with them myself, I'd try to keep 16" wheels and not go larger than 17" at that. I want function more than anything else.

Still, most people talking 285 wide tires are talking CMCs and trimming plastic.

You got a good looking truck, just put some nobby tires that fit and enjoy it.

Trying to make tires that don't fit, fit is just going to make the truck less enjoyable unless you spend the money and modify to do it right.

gotcha, thanks guys. so maybe I will tell him to just sell them. I don't want to get that involved with lifting it. I don't wheel, so the worst it would see is long gravel roads and some mud holes occasionally. but nothing major.

That being the case, just buy some AT tires (maybe MTs) that fit already and enjoy. If you go changing anything from the original diameter or sidewall, it's just going to make it ride worse and 99.999999999999% won't care more than if it has some offroad looking tires.

I already have Terra Grapplers. at one time I thinking of lifting it, so my boss offered me his tires for free. that is all. not something I have to do by no means. I drive mainly pavement. I don't do mall crawls, but my wife likes to shop at Home Goods, so not really off roading, lol.

I have 285/70 17 on my 2016 SR5 and when they were installed the shop said there was no rubbing on stock height. I did add a 3/2 lift with no cmc or trimming of any kind.

I don’t know if the 18” wheel makes a difference in clearance though.

You Need to lift.. or stay with your stock 265. I chopped by wheel wells and installed the Fend-X for a reason....
