3rd gen SR5, stock suspension. Just bought a new pop up camper, weights 2600 lbs, about 300lb tongue weight. When towing it the 2 hours home, it felt really good. But the back is sagging a bit. It wouldn't be a problem as it isn't sagging much, except I know when I through a big cooler, and gear in the bed, and two 80lb Hobie kayaks on the bed rack, and then hook up the camper, it is gonna REALLY sag.
I was thinking of an add a leaf, but what would be the best idea? I don't want to break the bank here.

Single add a leaf worked great for me. Here it is with 2 wheel/ tires and a bunch of crap in the back. This was the day after lift and I was getting my tires installed and alignment.

You should cancel that order. An AAL is barely sufficient with a shell and some added weight. 2600lbs? Your shit is gonna sag again with quickness.

Air bags are going to be your cheapest option. A set of heavy duty OME dakar leaf packs would serve you better and much longer than an AAL...

And yes with that much weight you need air bags. I have All Pro Expos and after 500lbs they start to sag a bit. That's weight directly over the wheels though.

Piggy back, my 2nd gen (i know, notoriously weak rear leafs) needs some help when i load up with gear for a weekend trip to the mountains. Would this type of thing help my case? I have everything else stock, just need to keep that rear end up. I have a shell + RTT = ~ 300 lbs every day driver. Thoughts?

Granted I have a 1st gen but I carry the same weight day to day (rack and RTT) and a 3 leaf AAL pack held it fine but if I put another 100lbs or more in with camping gear, I'd be riding on my bump stops. You need heavy duty leaf springs like Expos or HD Dakars for that kind of weight, if you want the truck to hold you while you're in the RTT without sagging, or plan on carrying extra camping gear weight.

AALs only add another 15% or so load carrying capacity so a single AAL won't do much if you're going to be carrying a few hundred or more pounds in the bed.

good to know. I always toss around the idea of upgrading suspension (sort of one stop shop; buy nice or buy twice attitude) but get overwhelmed by the options and what to do vs $. Just got 265/75r16 tires so i wouldnt want more than a 1-2" lift. Thoughts? 2014 OR dcsb

Someone with a 2nd gen should confirm but I think standard Dakars are a popular option, inexpensive and a complete leaf pack that rides smooth...but if you intend on carrying a few hundred pounds or more regularly then you should consider the heavy duty version instead, otherwise the standards will sag. Leaf springs are always a bit of compromise between ride quality and load carrying ability....finding that balance is what you're after.

    This.

An AAL isn't going to do anything for your capacity. They're good for about an inch of unloaded lift and not much else. From what you said I would think Dakar leafsprings would be a minimum requirement. Airbags are another option, since your loads are going to vary a lot, and it sounds like most the time your bed will be empty.

Well, it turns out they are backordered for 3 months, so I cancelled the order. I guess I will look into some airbags.

I looked at them, and only see ones with 2 inch lift. Do they sell them for stock height?
