Also, I'm no electrician myself, but the basement switch turns on both of the flourescents in there and a A19 socket in the laundry room. I want to put the Laundry room on it's own switch. Which side should I wire the switch in (voltage or ground)?

I hope you meant to say hot or neutral... wiring a switch to ground isn’t going to do you a damn bit of good

Without me going all electrician on you... this will be the easiest way to show you.

My dad came and looked at it and told me that there should have been a gasket that plugged the whole backside of the fixture around the supply line. Recommended just buying a new fixture.

Yes, there should be a foam gasket around the valve area as well as the outer edge of the finish plate. Here is a pic of mine I haven't put in my shower downstairs yet.

If it is a name brand fixture, and doesn't leak, you may just be able to buy a replacement rather than replace the entire thing as it looks relatively new and the install doesn't look too terrible.

Yep. That's it! Can't believe it was that hard for them to figure out...

Well the issue is not by the valve for the shower, the hole is under the trim peice for the tub spigot/faucet (I’m not sure of the technical plumbing lingo lol).
At least thats what it sounded like to me and how the photos look.

If that is the case, a new tub spout that has a wider flare at the base and some silicone will make it a quick easy fix!

The tub spout has no gasket on the backside. So I'll just buy a new one and properly install the gasket... They just threw this one on and caulked around the tub side.

Most tub spouts don’t come with a gasket, people usually don’t make a hole big enough that you can put your fist through it either lol

1/2” copper, I make a 3/4” hole in my tile, give it a coat of silicone around the pipe before the tub faucet goes in, never have to worry
