Curious if anyone has blacked out, limo tinted, 5% VLT or darker on their camper shell. I am not super worried about the front of the cab, but considering I want to keep things in the bed, especially if I am going to be away from my truck when camping etc, I am thinking about investing in the darkest tint possible.

From what I looked at texas regs state that:
Windshield: 25% VLT tint is allowed above the manufacturer's AS-1 line or top 5 inches, with less than 25% reflection. Front Side windows: Must allow more than 25% of light in. Back Side windows: Any darkness can be used. Rear Window: Any darkness can be used with side outside mirrors, 25% VLT without.

    Any thoughts for or against?

Do tint laws apply to truck caps? I mean, what says you couldn't cover the windows completely? Some caps don't have any windows at all.

Cap is not covered by tint laws. What is covered is adequate L/R rear view mirroring.

I tinted my shell at home after I bought it.
Bought 5% at Auto zone and actually unscrewed the window frames out of the shell for a better and cleaner tint job. Also so I could really clean the shell after I bought it
I can't see a damn thing out of it at night and barely in the day. But my rear bumper and spare tire carrier blocks most of my view anyways. I don't have a hassle here in Utah

Need to buy and install the button switch for the rear view camera for easier sights behind me

Mine's not that dark and I can't really see through it at night either, especially with the crappy stock pink reverse lights. OP you will probably want to consider adding extra reverse lights and a camera if you don't already have one.
