I’ve had my spare under my camper shell bolted to the top of my platform behind my fridge and fridge slide for 3 years.
It pretty much sucks. Avoid that location.

Haha yeah fuck that. I dont have any plans for a bed slide/drawer system. I dont wanna strap it ontop of the truck. And i think with a HC it would be all kinds of funky if it were under the bed in the factory spare location (not that 35's would fit under there).

I think i gotta go with the swingout

The hard part will be the infrastructure that passes county lines. For example, McDonald Island is an underground storage facility (natural caverns harvested in 70s by Chevron and now used to pump surplus in for storage by PG&E), which supplies most of the gas to northern california each winter. Logistically splitting it up would/will be a nightmare.

Something has to change though. The lost lives and livelihood due to their management is unacceptable.

I thought about a swing out but I’m in and out of the back of my truck often enough I feel a swing out will get annoying real quick.

But, you can hang a trasharoo off a swing out. I have one attached to my tail gate but hanging it from a spare tire on a swing out would be vastly better.

These are not sliders. He says in the post they bolt to the body and not the frame. If used as a slider you will do as much if not more damage than if you didn’t have them.

I have mine hoisted to the bottom of my redrack using the factory lifting mechanism. Not ideal but does free up the bed floor. Rack and tent may be for sale soon. :anonymous:

There's really not that much difference between the 2nd and 3rd gen, but just enough to know the difference when it comes to ordering specific parts. I've been enduring the shit show for a couple years now... pretty funny some of the insanity actually. Welcome to the dark side. Let me know if you have any questions and congrats on the new truck!

Then throw in their maintenance records and the discovery that they were gun decking line inspections. They're in deep kimchi.

That's one of the issue I have. I did not want a swing out. I use my truck too much for dog hauling. In and out of the bed. I keep my spare (34") where the factory intended. Then pull it when doing serious off roading. I just throw it in the back. With a shell on the bed there aren't a whole lot of options. It'll work for now. I mostly travel light, and alone. Unless I bring the nephew.
