WOW, that’s insane. Glad you made it out of that. Looks like the truck was in a car crusher. Can’t imagine the impact. Not only to have don’t that damage, but also make the truck roll 4 times. Looks like it rolled down a mountain lol.

So is it dumber then dumb to buy a house and not use all cash also? Cash is not realistic for most people BUT that doesn’t always mean they are taking 7-10 years to pay off a 36k vehicle either. I put well over half down and will only pay for 11 months if I stick to my payment plan. Which I have done before and will do again. Oh and that house I bought will also be paid off in less then 10 years. It just so happens I am good with money and have amazing credit because I don’t only use cash. I just happen to shop and spend responsibly within my means, allowing myself enough extra to make double or triple payments on everything I buy.

    *raises hand* That's me!

My house is $500k. Would love to see the Dave Ramseys here preach that I should save up and pay cash for my house.

$3k/month mortgage means no way in hell I'm paying cash for a Taco, either. Not even the cheapest SR. Yeahhhhh... so no "stacking cash" here...

Glad you're okay OP. I got t-boned in a hit & run by some asshole in June and that's how I ended up in my Taco. That honestly looks a lot worse than it probably is. Most of that isn't too terrible.

Deviating threads with things about 'millennials' and finances is too fun tho

If I get started on Dave Ramsey I will for sure get banned. I can not stand him. I'm getting out of here right now.

I'm still not sure where this term came from.. I hear this mispronounced constantly on both TV and radio.
If you lease a vehicle, you are a leasee. In order to be a lessee, you would have to less something.

Term is printed on the contract, that's where it came from. :D

And you are less something at the end of the term: your money and a vehicle. (Rimshot! Now don't forget to tip your server!:cookiemonster:)

Are things different in the states? Do the insurance companies not figure all the damages owed? Is it required to get a lawyer as soon as you get into an accident because you sue the offending party? If so, what is insurance even for?

Not sure how it is in Canada, but legal minimum coverage vary by states here the US. The smallest minimum coverage in many of the states is $15,000 for bodily injury. Needless to say serious injury can quickly exceed $15,000. Hence where damages need be collected via legal representation. I am all for legitimate lawsuits. Unfortunately, the states is also known for lawyer ambulance chasers and individuals whose very existence is to file frivolous lawsuits. The state I live in, Nevada, is probably one of the worst examples. Ad's everywhere for lawyers and insurance rates sky high to counter lawsuits seeking max payouts.

What's with the thing about millennial's? Ya'll seem to think they have the advantages of shop class and auto repair class that we had. They don't. That got cut, remember? So how would they know without asking here or somewhere else (preferably here)?

Props to those that ask and want to learn. For those of you near my age, try to act you're an adult and not some lame old bitch yelling at kids to get off your grass.

Ummm we still have shop classes and even a “career center” here where you can attend welding, carpentry, auto mechanics, etc during your junior and senior years of HS. Then you can do a couple more at the local college and get certified. So, not cut everywhere. That’s usually a state, not federal thing.

The dumb new math is federal.

Did you trade in so quickly so CarFax would not reference the claim?

He probably hasn’t even heard back from the insurance adjuster yet. And/or probably has a lot going on. It’s only been a few days, I’m sure he’ll be back soon to give in update.

In the mean time just start rambling on about finances, how much your house is, or how bad you hate millennials. Just like everyone else in this thread.
