Got the truck back today, only issue I have now is an airbag code which I had scanned and I think I came out lucky this time: it has a code B1801 for the clockspring in the steering wheel. I believe that is actually covered under a recall by toyota. So should be a free fix right?

Drove her around town, heat works again now that the cooling system is working/sealed correctly. New Tires feel good. Truck still has plenty of power for a 2.7. Spinning tires from a stop (flooring it).

Couldn't do too much since I got it late in the day and I've gotta go to work tomorrow, but I had to do one thing now that it's running perfectly (New grill).

Its a truck. Scratches add character. They should pay extra for those.

    Sweet project

I don't know...if it were me, after all this time/money/effort I put into restoring this thing I would want to keep it. Not sell it. To each their own though

    Nice work OP

Holy shit.... When the engine is cleaner than the interior, I start wondering what's wrong with some people. Jeez. That poor truck.

On the flip side, hell yeah. You SCORED. I woulda paid $2,000 for that thing in a heartbeat. What a steal.

P.s. I can only imagine how her house looks inside.

Yeah i would too. Something i rebuild i become way more attached to compared to something i buy thats pristine. I like my vulcan 500 more than my yzf r3 even though i bought the r3 new and its way ahead of the vulcan in technology.

They add character, but only if you added them yourself.
Its like when you go to the clothing store and they sell you clothes that are "pre worn out".
If you didn't do it yourself from hard work, then you're a poser, and posers are NOT cool.

Every truck I have owned has come with a bunch of scratches. It is nice cause I am not afraid to scratch the piss out of it.

I feel like if I bought a new truck I would be one of those guys that heads straight to the gravel pit for a load just to break it in lol.

Those hipsters pay a premium for those clothes!

I am excited to watch this interior transformation. Moldy interior does not add character or value haha.

Buying a used truck that is scratched up is not hipster. Sorry dude.

Buy silver so that they don't show up as well :)

Making assumptions about what you are replying to without actually reading the thread is VERY hipster. Sorry dude.

not a HUGE fan of the little odd ball truck but for the amount of time, effort and money you've spent thats one hell of a deal...i applaud you...for me it would be worth keeping around but i see the desire for bigger and better things...keep us posted man

Sub'd. Nice resurrection. There's a 1980-something red Toyota pickup at a tiny "corner dealership" in my town for $1950. I haven't looked at it because honestly I can't afford it right now and would be super tempted if it was in decent shape.

Sorry about the pup...don't know if you're the name-a-truck type, but have you considered calling this one "Buster?" Although since you're looking to sell it on for profit towards something else, maybe not.

That may indeed be the name for the truck as of yet. Selling it or not it only seems fitting.

Looks great! Wish I could find ‘em that cheap, I’d make a living off fixing/flipping them! Nicely done!

If I didn't know better, I'd say that was a completely different truck than the one that you started with!

    Great job
