I drove to Grand canyon from NY with my 12 year old son .We were in Flagstaff for an hour and I knew it's where I wanted to be. Grand canyon, Flagstaff, Sedona. If God was real that's what his vagina would look like...magnificent

Was just out there before XMas driving to Texas through AZ and NM. Awesome country!! There’s a maintained backcountry byway trail through NM that I took east of Zuni that was amazing until the frozen mud thawed. Then it turned to sloppy clay- that was fun!

I usually drive up to VT for day trips to Okemo or Mt Snow. Basically what I learned here is that my stock firestone destination le2’s that came on my TRD sport can handle all the snow without issue and I will never get stuck up there.
    Sweet.

How deep was that snow anyway? I took my 16 WRX up in the blizzards without issue for years... the taco seems like it won’t run snow as well.

The worst section was roughly 3 feet maybe a bit less with the top foot being fresh powder from the day before. If you look at the bridge section it will give you a good idea of the depth . You will eventually get stuck . Never say never

To be fair, if anyone goes on managed groomed trails and destroys them with truck tires, they do have a right to not be happy with the situation. Not talking specifically about OP here, just saying in general. You're talking trail management, yearly struggles to keep trails open, money, and a lot of labor to keep trails running which people from multiple states use.

And as far as the freeride west comments go ...we have trees. And land owners. Haha. There's some mountain riding .But we also battle property destruction with that kind of riding too

We struggle just as much out west.... look at what just recently happened out at Joshua Tree with this shut down going on. People are people and most are asshats.

Yup. It sucks. Doesn't matter if it's trucks, quads, dirtbikes, mtb trails, or rights of access to fishing / hunting land. Whole communities put a ton of effort into working with local jurisdictions to keep these things legal and running. But I won't go on a ramble about it . It's all in the COC on this site and isn't exclusive to 4x4 trails.

Freezing to death is supposed to be one of the less painful ways to die, could be worse.

I was totally kidding about my tires. I don’t think those all seasons are good for much past light surface stuff. If I wasn’t moving to a locale that never gets snow this spring I would definately invest in a second set of rims and mount snow tires on them. That setup worked great on the wrx.
