Your posting history has a number of discrepancies on when you got your truck. :spy:

OP I think you get the award for most posts for a rookie. Nine pages and counting on your first day.

    Welcome.

My advice--before you spend more than the $500, see if what you want to do is covered in a forum or a thread here. I bought LED headlamps around Christmas from a guy selling on CL. Only problem--they are LEDs in a reflector. If you don't know why that's a problem, go to the Lighting and HID forum and learn why.

I regret the money and the hours I spent putting them in. Now I'm going to put my halogens back in. More hours, but I'll like the light more.

It's like the carpenter's rule: measure twice, cut once. Think twice, spend once.

Also buy once cry once. Going cheap typically costs you more in the long run than doing it right the first time

I’m 18, too, and I feel you on the “makes me sound spoiled”. Although my truck isn’t a 2018, dropping 11k cash on a truck is a pretty big deal for a 15 year old, especially in my area (Central”ish” VA). I’ve heard the same thing over and over again about how my peers “wish they could afford a tacoma.” They are also the same ones that didn’t start working at 13 and still don’t have real jobs after graduating.
The main reason people thought I was "spoiled" because my mom happens to be a pharmacist and my dad is a dentist, so they obviously make good money. But that doesn't mean they spoil me. In fact, most people agree that I myself and very frugal and I am usually a lot more grateful for things than most of the kids my age.
I'm also going into dentistry, following my father's footsteps. I'll be finishing my biology degree in 3 years (funded by parents) and then going to dental school. Luckily for me, I'll probably have the opportunity to directly take over my dad's office in our small town which would be perfect (assuming things go as planned.)
On the topic of scholarships, I don't think they're as easy to get as it seems, especially if you don't qualify for financial need. I got pretty good grades in highschool (4.3 GPA, 1490 SAT, 30 college credits), and I only qualified for 1 scholarship since my parents make enough money. I understand the whole concept about how I don't need the help as much as someone else, but it also seems a bit unfair to practically punish the parents who worked hard enough to make a good living. This sounds more harsh than it's meant to be.
Exactly what I was saying above. Scholarships are hard to come by unless you're an athlete or really need the financial aid. I doubt I'll have much opportunities for some and I finished my first year with a 3.95. I'm also doing biology/dentistry. :D
That's why I decided to become a dentist. Also, my situation is much different since I live in a unique little town that is nothing like NOVA with all its competition. I'm not sure how it's works up there, but my dad has been able to work 4 days a week under his own schedule with 1.5/2 hour lunches to come home and take naps with our kittens. My mom and I actually figured out how many days he takes off throughout the year and it was really surprising since he always finds the smallest of reasons to take a week off. This is essentially my goal job wise. However, his career began with many nights working until 9pm pulling teeth and such to get to where he is now 20+ years later.

Wow... This was a lot of typing, especially on my phone. But I'm bored in my tiny dorm room with my tiny bed so I have nothing better to do.

could that be his hobby.....i like he was able to get the truck on his own....he seems to be from a pretty well of family.....maybe he got money from grandparents for holidays and b-days and kept it in bank..who knows...he's young and inexperienced......i think he is just happy and sharing his new truck experience......school grant, must be smart.......dont like the fact that everyone is ridiculing him about his habits or how he spends his time with his friends....who are we do do that.....

My opinion is a dealership wouldnt sale a 40k vechile to an 18 year old cause they do not have an established credit or work history witch means his parent actually bought the vechile he's just paying for it

Exactly! My parents definitely support me a ton (as long as I do well in school, etc.), but they also make it clear that I need to learn to provide certain things for myself like gas, truck, mods:D. It's also strange since my family definitely doesn't try to show that we have any sort of money, unlike others. We own normal cars, a normal farm house, and a few boats that no one knows about lol.

I have nothing better to do besides sleep, which probably seems like a much better decision.
