I don't think I have a pic of my '66 beetle that I took apart and put back together a couple of times with the original idiots guide. It really is an invaluable experience to tear it all apart and figure out how to put it all back together again by yourself. Maybe with some help the first time, lol.

Exactly. I didn't get into the credit game until about 6 years ago when I was 24 but I'm glad I did.

It's easy to get good credit, just need to get a card, use it regularly and ALWAYS MAKE YOUR PAYMENT. I haven't paid one red cent in interest to a credit card company, it's best to always pay off the balance each month.

All I'll say to the OP is even if you are comfortable with your payment now, eventually you will want to get a place of your own and apartments are even more expensive than trucks. If you're fine living with family til the trucks paid off then cool, but there's no shame in getting a cheaper ride so that you can strike out on your own.

Also start putting money into a retirement account. Even if it's not much just do it.

My only advice is to build a cash reserve to cover what debt you have. Otherwise, enjoy life and be a little conservative financially and you will be fine.

 

I dunno, maybe im the odd one out, but by taking out a large loan you end up being a slave to the loaners. The thought of working every day just to make payments to own a new truck rubs me the wrong way. Also the payments arent the end of the story, full coverage insurance, gas and maitence also come into play.
