Yeah not the most exciting idea, but perhaps OP could've invested this 35k~ into a Roth IRA and max it out every year.. since he can afford to do that based on his monthly payments. and just could've bought a decent mile old tacoma to serve his needs just fine..

Personally I'd be a little hesitant increasing the rev limiter- it's good 99.5 % of the time. I have had a few times where its hit limit in first gear only- but that's my fault because I dont usually watch the tach after so many years of manual. I agree with you for longevity I wouldn't.

Understood, I simply noted it's not his personal erotica website...at least not yet.

From the TW terms of service:
123.76-C: You must have a minimum 200 posts (legitimate posts, no spamming the Off Topic) before you may consider TacomaWorld your own personal erotica website.
If you post erotica without the prerequisite 200 posts, your erotica will be deleted.

If you are paying your dad instead of the bank, I don't think you are building any credit.

Also, both of my kids moved out for college at age 18 and basically are on their own living-wise. So, I don't agree that most 18 year olds still live with their parents.

I have 3 brothers that all went to college the commuter route. My dad helped all 3 financially. All got degrees/jobs in their chosen fields. I went away to school - no local schools in Pittsburgh had Forestry programs. Dad didn't pay 1 penny for my degree at Penn State. But, I learned self sufficiency, cooking, cleaning, responsibility way earlier than any of my brothers. Didn't have parents to cook, do laundry, wake me for classes, etc. Same is happening with my 2 kids.

investments are good idea, but they aren't guaranteed money either. Mine has taken a 30 point swing over the last 6 months.

It's a matter of managing risk. When you are younger you can take more risk because you have more time to recover. At the same time taking all your money and sticking it in the stock market is a sure fire way to end up broke.

Its not just that. When you're young, you don't have the same kind of responsibilities as you do later on, like keeping your wife and kids from living on the street.

Some people consider the belly button to be an erogenous zone.

Sure op you're living home now, but assuming thats a ~6-7 year loan are you planning on staying home till you're 24-25? 90% of 20 year olds would flop with a 500$ car payment on top of rent and all that. I know id be fucked :p

I pay my credit card off every month. My bank pays me to use their money in reward points. It's not much, was a little over $400 last year, but getting paid to use their money is kinda cool.
