Except that you're being rewarded by higher end product cost that the bank charges to merchants for the use of the credit card machine....

Money isn't everything!!! Enjoying work and life is more important to me. Having enough money to be comfortable is OK by me. I didn't retire with a million dollar retirement fund......I still work part time to buy my 'toys' and make ends meet.
Is that wrong??? In another 18 months, my son should be a graduate with a full time job and both kids will be off my health insurance and fully financially independent from me. If I had to save up to pay cash for everything, I never would have had anything!!! If it weren't for debt, there would be a lot of unemployed people from the financial and banking industries!!

Im only in school for a couple of years. After that, I pay of the loan quickly and I can decide whether or not to live on my own. My ethnicity is hispanic so for us, it’s normal to be 23ish to be living with parents. Cuz for us, family is important to keep close.

Man you should of put a down payment on a house, not on a depreciating asset that's just to get from point A to point B.

But hey if having a brand new vehicle at 18 makes you feel better all the power to you.

You're not wrong, but finaning say a 15k tacoma VS. a 40k tacoma are not one in the same. I like motorcycles, but im not going to finance a top of the line 25k ducati becuase of that. People can have all their toys and more, but not going over board with things. a 1980s toyta pickup will do 90% of what a 2018 will do, you're paying for the luxury.

Yes..sure but it is all about the long-term investment with a roth though anyway. if you look at their growth over the last ten years it has only gone up. It is the market, so obviously it is going to go down sometimes. Otherwise if he just simply put that money into a high yield savings account for any interruptions in his everyday life that come up in the next few years that would even be better then this.

You "make bank", but how's that retirement account coming along?

That is by no means a hispanic characteristic. Its pretty universal now that kids stay at home a lot longer than they used to unless there is some really pressing need to get away, like (from two very opposing ends of the spectrum) abuse, or going away to school.

I just sold a condo to an Italian "kid" who is 27 and still living at home.

Both my wife and I lost over 10% value of retirement accounts in the last quarter. To me, it is only on paper....let it slide.

But, again, no guarantees. Buy LAND for investment.....they aren't making any more of it!!!! Unless it is a volcanic island somewhere.

Well you wont really have a choice until its paid off. You'd have to be making about 40-50 $/ hour to be able to scrape by with many bills and a thicc car payment. I highly doubt thats possible right out of school. ~7 years out of school maybe

Yes, but by and large those responsibilities do come at some point, otherwise the population would be in decline.

I didn't say they did. But it is a cost of doing business and impacts the price they have to charge.

Is that a question or a statement? I'm having a really hard time deciphering what you're saying.

And yes, I WAS thinking about retirement at 18.
