An 18 year old cannot afford to live in an area where a one bedroom apartment can run 1700 a month, without utilities.

I didn't move out till I was 23, my folks house had a massive walk out basement. I had my own entry, family room with a wet bar, bedroom, and full bath. I did pay a little rent, but not much.

Moved out at 23 into my own house. I never rented a apartment or house till I was around 45, put the first house I bought in FL up for sale and rented a house across the street from the beach for a year. We paid the years rent up front. Planned on living there that year while finding the house we really wanted. Ended up having one built, so we stayed there another year while it was being built, paid monthly rent that year.

I'm still living in the house, got it on a 15 year mortgage when we bought it, and I paid it off in 11 years.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to live in a place where a one bedroom costs 1700/month

My child would not be able to live in my home if he didn’t obide by my rules.
He wants to save money for school or the future by living with me great!
Live by my rules or you’re out.

Preventing your kids from making tragic mistakes is not uptight parenting. Its parenting. Letting your kids do whatever they want is just being their friend.

    My dad wouldn’t care.

My mother on the other hand would probably cut my balls off THEN toss me out on the street HAHA!

Everyone settle down, he already said he's "making bank" as a server. That's clearly a stable job with a good compensation package, and there's little chance of him being fired without a severance package right? If something did go wrong he could just go down the road to Joes crab shack and pick up another job right?

Seriously though, he said dad signed the loan and he pays dad the payments and he's on dad's insurance. DAD BOUGHT A TRUCK, dude just rents it from Dad.

I bought my Sport wheels off a 17 year old kid who's dad bought him a new 2018 Sport, and then obviously put some more cash his way for new wheels.

Sold my Nissan coupe to a man who was buying it for his 16 year old sons first car.

My first car was a $1,500 bad ass 68 Firebird with a 350, Holley 4 barrel, 4 speed, headers, Cragar wheels and fat back tires.

This honestly reminds me of my cousin so much. She graduated university, her parents bought her a 25k loaded honda civic cash (which was very kind of them). She then wanted "something bigger" traded it in a year later for 10k and financed a 50k honda suv fully loaded. Her payments are ~600/month and she didnt pursue anything with her degree. She makes ~15$/hr cant afford payments most times and other maitence items. This keeps falling back on her parents, who arent doing to well as of right now. It's an awful situation. They recently had to dig into their saving to buy her a set of winters as she couldnt afford it. Also she still lives at home aswell.
