Idaho just has the same drugs as everywhere else but they have a suffering public school system. I remember living in WA we would get Idaho's campaign commercials decrying how underfunded their school systems are

at least their kids are able to go to school right now lol, our public school system teachers are on strike for the first time since the 80's. Kids are staying home since no teachers are working. Los Angeles School District that is.

Those poor kids need all the help they can get.

I imagine it’s hard to live in Cali with what teachers make though, if that’s what they’re striking about.

Teachers don't make shit, I can't imagine being one at all in Cali knowing that your wage is probably an 1/8 of the cost to live impoverished.

Yup, they want higher pay and more money given to the schools in general. Public school teachers in LA on average make around $50 - $60k, which for CA is not very much money at all.

$60k/year is livable out here if you're single and don't have excessive student loan debt or something, but if you have a family you need minimum $80k or more, or you're going to be relying on assistance.

As a child I knew teachers didn't make good money, I assume most others do if my dumbass can pick up on it. Can't imagine why any of my generation went through the trouble of college to become a teacher. But I suppose that's good of them, the world needs more people willing to essentially donate their time for the betterment of others

Nurses make a good chunk of change, but they aren't really publically funded. Not sure about the civil servants though.

The silver lining (I suppose) is they generally get decent benefits, and of course summers off...assuming they don't take up teaching jobs over summer. But even then they are always working, coming up with lesson plans and grading work, etc. My mom is a school teacher up in Monterey and as a kid, I remember her always working on something related to her classroom, even over summer. It's definitely a full-time gig even when you're not getting paid to do it

Oh I'm sure, and I know they put a good deal of their own money into it as well.
