Yea, I am soooo glad they are metal. I clocked a mourning dove at 45 mph a couple months back. Sorta deformed the cheese grater grill a tad, the horns, they were fine. I cannot say the same for the dove.

Make a trip to see you up in Canada first. :rasta:

Naaa, I'll just use distilled water to rinse them with. The one video I watched the guy just used a rag and wiped the piece off he did it to. Another did it in the sink and just used tap water. That's the beauty of just using Easy Off oven cleaner. It is strong enough to remove the anodizing but not enough to harm the aluminum.

Could've tested, could've experimented but never did.
Thanks for looking into this bud, hopefully you find a solution.

I'm going to do mine this weekend so I will have pics of the process. Then I am sending them to Andres so they can go out with the Feb. 2nd batch.

Once I get them back I will clear coat them to prevent this from ever happening again.

    Unfortunately green is not offered.
The anodize shop charges a minimum of $92 for every color, this is what I pay for every color and a much smaller fee for each emblem.
If I wanted green I would pay $92 for this. This is the reason why there are only a few colors to choose from.

Now if you want Green you can purchase a natural aluminum emblem and have it painted any color you want.
I've seen many people go this route, easy enough and if they don't like it they can remove the paint and try again.
They're made out of aluminum, it will last you a lifetime.

Well, every YouTube video makes it look very simple. If I screw them up I will just paint them. Mine are really faded. Too much salt here on the roads.

Two winters of this (which is literally just a typical one way drive into work in the mess):

I'm gonna anodize mine again but this time I'll clear coat them with a UV protective clear. Should be good then. Most of my anodized braided steel line fittings on my Pontiac suffered the same fate but there all business so I don't much care. This is ornamental, so I'd like it to look sharp.

Welcome to the forum Joe. :hattip:

Don't let any of what I am talking about dissuade you. It is my fault I didn't clear coat mine when I got them. I just didn't know it (the road salt) would do that to them. I was honestly more worried about sun damage.

So now I will pay a minimal fee to have them as good as new. I am ok with that. They really are bad ass.

I feel the same way Edward. I want all my things to look nice but this is the one that really catches everyone's eye. People will point while crossing the street in front of me. I've gotten a couple of "well hello there" looks from some babes too, while the wife is in the truck. LOL I even had a couple with a Tundra stop me in the Mall Parking lot (just kidding, it was Walmart LOL) and spent like 15 minutes talking about it, so I had to show them the Diaz Fabrication website.

Most of all it really exemplifies my personality. So yea, I want them to be 100%

Ultimately, they will get moved to my new 3rd Gen Homer Taco grill.
